I have been treating clients through talk therapy for the past 25 years. I have worked with end of life issues through hospice, with children and adolescents struggling with learning and mental health issues, and most recently with adults who seek help to relieve symptoms of mood, anxiety and trauma disorders. I try to move at the clients pace and have been told that I am a good listener, and that people find relief in sharing their life stories with me.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the initial session clients will learn what to expect from therapy, an opportunity to discuss the issues that brought them to therapy, a thorough social and medical history, and a chance to express their goals for treatment.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my greatest strengths are empathy, respect for each individuals choices, and listening without judging. I believe that therapy is both an art and science, and I have continued to learn the best and most effective treatment practices through continuing education courses.

My treatment methods

Trauma-Focused CBT

Throughout my career as a therapist, for the past 25 years, it has become evident that many people who suffer with chronic depression and anxiety have also experienced some type of trauma that affects their sense of self and their relationships. Of course, this is not always the case, but it is important to ask the right questions and explore a persons history. I try to be as supportive and as non-judgmental as possible, while still challenging clients to be their best selves. I have worked with a large and diverse population throughout my career and speak Spanish as a second language. I enjoy helping sensitive and creative people overcome creative blocks.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Many people struggle with negative thoughts, and over thinking which disrupts mood and sleep. In exploring a persons thoughts that repeat like a stuck record, it is possible to reframe those thoughts to be more positive, giving people the resilience to get through life’s struggles and transitions.
