Do you find yourself struggling with feeling depressed, anxious, or unable to effectively function on a daily basis? Are you challenged by grief/loss, toxicity within your relationship? Have you experienced trauma that has continued to negatively impact your life? If you answered yes to any of these questions, support in making healthy and lasting changes in your life is here! My name is Kelly Silver, and I am a Christian, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). I have a bachelor's degree in psychology, a master's degree in human sciences, and a master's degree in social work. I have worked in the field of Psychology/Social Work for over 19 years, which encompasses working in hospital settings as well as home-based and office-based settings, serving clients dealing with a variety of life challenges. In addition, I have also worked in child welfare and foster care for several years. I have experience working with clients from a wide array of backgrounds and clinical diagnosis. I am passionate about helping you address and work through life challenges which may be preventing healing and growth. I view therapy as a working relationship between myself and you, whereby we work in tandem to meet your goals, thus, instilling a sense of hope for your future. I am so glad that you have reached out for support as I know that it can be difficult to make that first step. In our sessions together, I'll meet you with compassion and evidence-based techniques so you can overcome that which may be resulting in your personal challenges and struggles. I would like to be a source of support for you!
During our first meeting clients can expect to be greeted with warmth and a listening ear. I check in with clients to ensure their comfort with the therapeutic process and to understand any anxiety or reservations clients may have with therapy. I invite questions and create an opportunity to become acquainted with one another in a relaxed and informal space. I complete intake questions without pressure or stress for the client as I approach each question with patience, active listening, and empathy.
I utilize and often combine several different types of therapeutic tools and modalities during sessions such as: Acceptance and Commitment (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), Compassion Focused, Culturally Sensitive, Dialectical Behavior (DBT), Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Motivational Interviewing, Person-Centered Solution Focused Brief (SFBT), Strength-Based Trauma Focused
While I have a significant amount of experience working with clients struggling with an array of issues, I have identified that my biggest strengths are in assisting clients in understanding and managing anxiety/panic as well as working with client's who have been involved in toxic relationships. Toxic relationships often encompass codependency, domestic abuse/violence, infidelity, addictions, and grief. Such issues often result in the need for assistance and support in making life transitions, increasing self-esteem, and working to decrease depression.
