About me

Hello and welcome. My name is Dr. Pablo Arriaza, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Florida. License: SW 3796. I applaud your decision to engage in counseling to address your concerns and life challenges. I look forward to meeting with you to determine how to best support, empower, and guide you to make effective and sustainable changes to enhance your well-being. My style of engagement, assessment, and treatment is based on cognitive-behavioral approaches, trauma-informed practices, humanistic perspectives, coaching, and solution-focused techniques. I have experience working across the lifespan with diverse populations across national and international settings. I believe that trust, emotional safety, and compassion are key components to creating a strong therapeutic bond that facilitates the change process. Although I have strong psychodynamic training, I believe in individual treatment planning focused on clients' strengths and values. I believe in using expressive techniques to promote change and stability.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

I practice with a strong humanistic approach believing that people have strengths and resources that can be explored during goal setting. I believe in respecting the person and clarifying as well as creating realistic and sustainable goals that make sense. I believe in empowerment and strengthening coping skills to enhance your insight. We will work together to identify goals and clear outcomes. My first session with you: For the first session, my goal is to meet each other and allow time for you to ask me any questions about my experience, license, practice methods, and so forth and for you to share your path towards healing in terms of what has worked and what remains to be addressed. I hope that by the end of the first session, we will have developed some emotional safety to continue addressing your concerns in future sessions and identify short-term goals for the first three weeks. I look forward to meeting you.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

I am a bilingual and bicultural psychotherapist with vast experience in psychotherapy. I have worked across the lifespan with parents expecting their first baby all the way to my oldest client who was 102 when I worked in hospice. I have extensive experience working for the United States Armed Forces as an intervention specialist and therapist across United States Military Installations in Germany, Japan, and England. I am compassionate and humanistic and throughout the years many clients have told me that I have "good energy" which has facilitated the process of establishing emotional safety. I am compassionate yet direct when needed. One of my greatest strengths at the moment is my passion for integrating Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in sessions which resulted in a year long training to become a Certified Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapist. I work with people with unresolved traumas and use Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy to address unresolved traumas, grief, fears, and feelings of emptiness.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I am an experienced psychotherapist with a strong alliance to psychodynamic and humanistic perspectives. In the past 33 years, I have focused my clinical practice on people experiencing challenges with trauma, depression, anxiety, life and family transition, grief and bereavement, death and dying, relationship and/or marital enhancement, family therapy, and issues surrounding military families. I have a Doctorate Degree in Social Work which has granted me the opportunity to teach, research, coach, and guide the next generation of rigorous social workers. My professional roles include counselor, psychotherapist, Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapist, professor, clinical supervisor, consultant, well-being enhancement coach, and researcher. My communication style: My communication style is compassionate, empathic, reflective, and mindful. My goal is to establish an emotionally safe space to support you in creating change and embracing hope. My journey to mental healthcare: I became a social worker because I wanted to help people across the lifespan address challenging life events such as grief, loss, divorce, and familial discords. I was trained and supervised in psychodynamic approaches. However, throughout the years, I have become eclectic in my approaches as I believe everyone is different and everyone requires different approaches to support their goals.

My treatment methods

Internal Family Systems (IFS)

I am trained in several psychodynamic modalities, including Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy, which aligns well with Internal Family Systems (IFS). Infusing various treatment modalities with IFS work, often results in faster healing, increased in personal awareness, and increased motivation to address challenging life experiences and/or traumatic events. I am a Certified Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapist and work primarily with this modality to support individuals, couples, and families heal and connect to their authentic selves.
