Hi I am a licensed Clinical Social worker who has worked with clients ranging from 4-90 years of age. Currently I work with people between the ages of 17 and 90 who are able to use the remote platform effectively. I I have seen many people transform what they saw as impossible difficulties into manageable issues that they are able to overcome. Clients develop a more profound sense of what their life means to others and are able to confidently feel strong, unique and a deep sense of self love.
In our first session, I will get to know your history, current concerns and what you would like to accomplish in treatment. I will provide education , recommendations and an understanding of how we can work together to accomplish your goals.
I am a therapist who has practiced for 35 years in all sorts of settings. I have raised a family, lived and practiced in rural, urban, and international communities. My varied life experience, enables me to respect the complexities of each person and their unique life circumstances. I see myself as a collaborative equal, with sophisticated training which I like to share , enabling clients to become experts on resolving their own individual conflicts. I use humor, the Socratic method and respectful dialogue to move clients forward.
I love working with people who know that they need to improve an aspect of their life and could benefit from an outside resource to encourage and support them as they make changes.
During my 35 year career as a therapist, I have been formally trained in a number of treatment modalities including psycho-dynamic, family systems, cognitive behavior therapy, humanistic psychotherapy, dialectic behavioral therapy , play therapy, motivational interviewing, holistic integrative health, mindfulness and trauma based treatment. When working with clients, I believe it is most useful to work collaboratively, with respect, sensitivity and humor. After getting to know each person's history, temperament and goals, we discover what is most useful for effective transformation and resolution of the problem. Together we use tailored techniques designed to transform life into something more satisfying.
I use mindfulness based therapy to assist you in developing awareness of what is happening in the moment in your body, in your feeling world and in your thoughts process. Mindfulness is developing a profound awareness of what is taking place inside of your whole being, slowing your reactions down so you can see yourself and your situation more clearly. When you are able to do this in real time, your ability to take care of yourself in your everyday life is greatly enhanced. I find the clients who I work with develop skills to manage their life outside of the session with clarity, and a respect for themselves and others.
