Hello, my name is Jamal and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with four years of experience collaborating with diverse communities including preteens, adolescents, adults and older adults, and underrepresented groups. Most of my work consists of processing trauma and assessing the relationships we have with others to build more hope for the future. I personally believe that though things may be hard right now, no one is 'crazy' and that in some way, the way we are makes sense due to our past experiences. That means we can understand and create experiences now and in the future that are more adaptive and true to how we want to live. -I currently am not seeing clients under the age of 18 due to my availability. My apologies in advance for any inconvenience-

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Typically, the first session consists of getting to know one another. This helps with easing in future sessions and creating a treatment plan with goals. From there, therapy can be very linear or nonlinear. Sometimes an issue happens at work and that is where your mind is at for our session and other times you're processing older experiences. Either way, because it is all related to you, everything will be interconnected so we will always be moving toward your therapeutic goals.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

I am trained as an Interpersonal Process therapist and I utilize CBT, DBT, and Narrative interventions based on client needs. I offer everyday tools in my practice, yet my niche is related to discovering life long lasting change.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My biggest strength as a therapist is to allow the therapeutic process and relationship to form its own authenticity. What this allows for is people showing up as themselves, without thinking they have to be or look a certain way to talk and receive help. I believe in truly meeting someone where they are at in any given moment, so there also isn't pressure to talk about certain things, if one does not feel comfortable or ready to talk about them yet.
