Hi! I'm a licensed marriage and family therapist, practicing since 2003. I have spent my career helping people find success and feel better about themselves. I have extensive experience working with adolescents and families, as well as individuals with dual diagnosis (mental health issues with substance disorder). The brain is my favorite organ in the human body and I love using education and skills to help people find mastery over their emotions.
In our first session we will complete a thorough history and talk about the presenting issues that have brought you to me. We will set up goals to work on and build rapport so that we can establish trust.
Having worked as a therapist for over 20 years, I feel my extensive knowledge and experience sets me apart. I have worked in treatment facilities in the past and have been trained in many different modalities including DBT and trauma therapy. I believe in the power of psychoeducation and finding the "why" for doing the things we do.
I love working with all age groups! While I have a lot of experience with adolescents, I also truly enjoy helping transitional aged youth, as well as young and well established adults. I enjoy working with client's who are ready to make changes and the clients that are almost there. I work with clients who struggle managing their emotions around depression and anxiety and the client's who are struggling with their own sobriety.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment
I use a combination of modalities to help my client's reach their goals. I chose Solution Focused because it's a brief therapy model where the expert in the room is the client.
Dialectical Behavior (DBT)
DBT is a great therapy that comes with straightforward skills. It's a wonderful technique for client's of all ages and in particular it works very well with adolescents and anyone with Borderline Personality Disorder. I also utilize these skill sets when working with client's in early recovery.
Psychoeducation
The brain is my favorite organ in the whole human body! I love being able to explain and teach how the brain is the way it is and figuring out techniques that work for you to manage stress, anxiety, and/or depression levels.

I absolutely believe that the body and brain are connected and utilizing techniques that work with the body to impact mental health is a real thing
