Welcome, I am Jo Ann Galati, Licensed Mental Health Counselor and owner of Sea Glass Mental Health Counseling. I have been a therapist for over a decade. I graduated from Nova Southeastern University. I have spent my time since, trying to constantly expand my experience and knowledge base, so that I may help my clients. I love my job and I try to give my best to my clients.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In my first session with clients, I focus on understanding their reason for wanting therapy. I review their intake forms and evaluations-as to their level of depression and anxiety. Then, I will give them my plan for helping them. Usually, they are interested in working further with me.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are my extensive knowledge, experiences and my level of empathy. I have been a child, a mother, an advocate, a teacher and now a therapist. My focus in life, especially as a therapist, is to read and learn as much as I can, then use this knowledge to help others. Being empathetic involves trying to understand my clients' lives and helping them to feel better about themselves.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a talking therapy. CBT teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. It focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and actions.

Eclectic

Eclectic Therapy is a therapy approach that draws the most relevant techniques from other evidence-based therapies to form an individualized treatment plan. Eclectic Therapists value the fact that each client is unique and has unique needs in therapy.

Psychodynamic

The aim of psychodynamic therapy is to help one recognize, experience, and understand your true, deep-rooted feelings, in order to help you resolve them. Based on the idea that our unconscious holds onto painful feelings and memories.
