Hello. My name is Dr. Jessica Perez. I am a second-generation Cuban-American woman, born and raised in Miami, Florida. Professionally, I am a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the work that I do has one unifying purpose: To help others live authentically and achieve their best potential in their personal goals and relationships. As a Licensed Psychologist, I provide individual and group therapy, as well as conduct high-quality Gifted, Psychoeducational, and Comprehensive Psychological/ Developmental Evaluations across Miami Dade, Broward, and Monroe Counties.
In our first session, we will complete an Intake Assessment, meaning I will gather initial information about your life and history. We will also speak about the most important reasons that you are attending therapy at this time and set initial goals for our work together.
While I find value in exploring the past, I very much guide my clients towards investing their energy on what they can control in the present.
Interpersonal Psychotherapy is an evidenced-based approach centered around the value of human relationships. By reflecting on patterns that occur in our relationships, we are better able to identify changes that need to be made, both in those relationships and within ourselves.
Child Parent Psychotherapy is an evidenced based dyadic approach to improving a child's behavior, as well as a parent's ability to understand and meet their child's needs. This approach involves treatment with the child and their parent together, as well as some time alone with a parent, to reflect on ways the relationship can be strengthened and increase a parent's ability to address behavioral problems.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy is an evidenced based approach that emphasized the importance of balance and self-awareness. The four major tenets of DBT are: Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. Developing skills in these four areas improves a person's ability to handle the difficulty situations that arise in their day-to-day lives.
