About me

I have worked with children and families covering a variety of issues including trauma, adoption, abuse, domestic violence, attachment, parenting skills, communication skills, divorce, and adjusting to changes in life and environment. I am knowledgeable in treating the following but not limited to anxiety, grief, adjustment disorders, ADHD, and self esteem issues. My current focus is working with individuals of the adolescent and adult population. I utilize a therapeutic approach that best fits the client as an individual. I incorporate suitable techniques and modalities including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused, Mindfulness, stress management, communication skills, and modeling to address the client's needs. I strive to provide a safe, supportive environment to assist my clients in becoming the experts of their own lives and providing hope for their future.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first session we will speak about what is bringing you to therapy. What issues you are coping with. What goals you have for therapy. And how I can support you along this journey to self exploration and discovery. we have chat about your life story. Who you grew up with. What your current family system looks like. We also chat about any previous therapy you may have had. What worked for you and what didn't. I always say that while I can and at times, will be directive, this journey, and it IS a journey, is like riding a bus. YOU are the driver and I am the passenger. while I will certainly assist and direct along the way, you will always remain in control of where things go in our sessions.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

My strength comes from lived experiences. It comes from 34 years as a licensed clinician. My strength also comes from my education and training that I have worked to keep up to date to focus on current issues and events that affect individuals.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

After 34 years licensed, I have extensive experience with all ages of clients. At this time my ideal clients are age 13 and up. I thoroughly enjoy working with adolescents as they navigate the ever changing world around them. Focusing on school, life challenges, peer relationship and life planning. I also enjoy supporting adults who are coping with various life challenges such as job changes, anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and more. I have been providing support to our military population and their dependents while in private practice as well as a Military and Family Life Counselor.
