I graduated in 1999 with a degree in counseling from Portland State University. I interned couple thousand hours, then took a quick 20 years away. I received my LMHC (License Mental Health Counselor) cert at the beginning of 2024. I'm well versed counselor, with specific training in dealing with trauma and non-traditional couples. I like using an eclectic style, picking the strategies and tools from all around, to provide the best service to my client. As a lifetime learner, someone coming in to my office automatically has that in common!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we'll go over some basics around therapy, how it works, it's limitations, and your history. From there, we'll look at what I can do for you. You'll always be the one in charge! You can expect routine homework based on our discussions, and never any surprises--aside from the discoveries that you make about yourself. My therapy is very much "vision forward", with an understanding of our past.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a lot of flexibility in my interactions, and work hard to make sure that I can provide the best services I can. I'm accessible and honest, without being brutal about it. I share my education, because this isn't about me being an expert; this is about what can help my client develop their own goals the most.

My treatment methods

Eclectic

While expertise in a single model or even several is beneficial, people are individual and need different approaches. My experience in working with different modalities tailors itself to fit the needs of the person, rather than "one size fits all".

EMDR

Dealing with trauma and intrusive thoughts? EMDR is a great technique to handle them.

Gottman method

I'm not certified in the Gottman method, only having taken the level one training. However, it has phenomenal utility and is a great source for couples work.
