I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Community Counseling and a Post Masters Certificate in Counseling. I have over 20 years of experience working with a diverse population. I have enjoyed providing support to Adolescents, young adults, and families. I have experience working in a variety of settings, including school and office settings. I use an eclectic approach to providing therapeutic interventions. I believe that therapeutic interventions and techniques must be tailored to meet the individuals learning/communication style. Therapy is most beneficial when a strength-based approach is utilized. I believe that an individual’s strengths are used to help develop lagging skills. In my years of experience, I utilize techniques from a Reality Therapy approach which helps to acknowledge small increments of success (evidence based). This helps to increase competence in individuals of all ages. Therapy is individualized to help individuals develop and identify their life purpose (spirituality). Of great importance, I believe in modeling the importance of building relationships through communication. I have experience working with stress, anxiety, depression, anger management and issues around coping with transitional stages of life. I enjoys reading, spending time in nature, and learning and exploring cultures from around the world.
I take it at the pace of the client. I give the client the opportunity to share what is important to him/her in the therapeutic process. (What they would like to work on in therapy.)
I fell that my greatest strengths include my ability to listen in a nonjudgmental way. I am very culturally aware and accepting of cultural differences. I am skilled in connecting/joining with others in a way that helps to build good communication.
I use Reality to work with children and adolescent in the school and family setting to hell them realize their potential for growth. In addition, I used this technique with young adults and adults in the same manner. Individuals often gain insight into their strengths and areas of need, while realizing how choices impacts growth.
I used an eclectic approach to counseling individual. I realize that one technique alone may not be effective for all individuals or one individual all the time. I utilize exploring spirituality in a way that helps the individual realize their journey in life is unique to them and is an essential part of personal growth.
