Licensed to practice in Florida and accepts 47 insurances. Specializes in ADHD, Anxiety, Depression
I am Jamaican-born, dual-board-certified in Family practice and psychiatric mental health care. I got my FNP At Florida Atlantic University with honors. Since then, I saw there was a need for mental health providers, and having a passion for mental health, and dealing with mental health in my own family I decided that I should pursue a degree in mental health. I completed a post-master certificate in PMNHNP at Walden University. I currently work as a primary care/urgent care provider treating chronic conditions and common mental health disorders such as Depression, anxiety, insomnia, and ADHD. I also have 16 years in the emergency room environment
At the end of each session, the patient should feel heard and cared for. They also should have a thorough understanding of the disease process and their treatment plan and goals. They will learn the skills and be given the tools for relaxation techniques to help reduce stress. How to find ways to be creative. How to spend time in nature is key to their mental health. Learn how to connect with others and how to look after their physical health and improve their sleep. Remember treating mental health is not about medications, it is incorporating a healthy lifestyle, along with medication management to overcome the disease process to improve their mental health and overall well-being
My overall experience in every setting in the healthcare arena. For instance, I work with dementia patients in long-term care facilities, working in the emergency setting witnessing patients being baker act for sometimes simple reasons- sometimes if we talk to our patients we can solve so many problems. I also work as a primary care provider treating Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, and insomnia. Lastly, dealing with schizophrenia, ADHD, anxiety, and depression in my own family and see how " good" mental health care changes their life to become better human beings and be more productive in society.
Born and raised in Jamaica and dealing with mental health issues in my own family, My goal is to reduce the stigma that surrounds mental health illnesses. Therefore, my approach is to use an integrated multicultural holistic approach to treat mental health disorders, including psychotherapy, medication management, provider notes referral letters, and FMLA to improve your mental health and overall well-being

My first sessions with Shaunette she had in depth answers to every question i had. Im normally anxious when starting new meds but she made me feel comfortable by explaining just about every aspect i needed to know. Will definitely be following up with her every few weeks.
