Nice to meet you, my name is Jenessia Cunningham. I am a licensed clinical social worker with over 10 years of experience working with children and families across all seasons of life. Parenting and caregiving for a child or elderly parents can be particularly challenging. I graduated from Case Western University in Cleveland Ohio in 2006. Since then, I worked with families across a variety of settings such as children's orthopedic hospitals, Veterans Administration Hospital, Family Preservation in Child Protective Services, and provided inpatient mental health for elderly patients in Skilled Nursing Facilities. I look forward to working with you to alleviate stress, finding a balance, and self-care.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. As we know parenting doesn't come with a manual. I am here to see what you have tried and brainstorm new ideas or just to let you vent.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As a parent myself, I have learned that "it takes a village" to raise a child is true. Let me be a part of your village.

Motivational Interviewing is a technique that is designed to help you find your personal desires to change. Change is uncomfortable even if it is for the best but by exploring your why and need to change you will be more invested and committed to the process to achieve your goals.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Exploring current thoughts and feelings and identifying tools to develop new thinking patterns will help promote positive change, reduce stress and anxiety.
