Hi there! I'm a Licensed Professional Counsellor (LPC) based in Texas. I received my Masters from Texas Woman's University. I have worked in school settings for four years, working with children and adolescents, and started my private practice in 2023, providing service to adolescents and adults. My role as a therapist is to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. I'll offer feedback, validation, and encouragement as you progress toward your goals, and I'll collaborate with you to adjust strategies as needed along the way.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the first session with me, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment where they'll have the opportunity to share their concerns and begin the therapeutic journey. We'll start by introducing ourselves and getting to know each other a bit. Building rapport is essential, so I'll aim to create a comfortable and nonjudgmental space where you feel safe to share. We'll discuss what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. This is an opportunity for you to share your goals, concerns, and expectations for our work together. Overall, the first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, establish goals, and begin laying the groundwork for our therapeutic work together. You can expect a collaborative and supportive approach focused on helping you achieve positive change in your life.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a genuine care and concern for the well-being of my clients. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel heard, understood, and valued. I view therapy as a collaborative process where clients and I work together as partners in their journey toward positive change. I value your expertise about your own life and experiences and will work alongside you to identify and achieve your goals. I understand that each client is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. I'm adaptable in my therapeutic approach, drawing from a variety of techniques and modalities to meet the specific needs and preferences of each individual.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT is a structured, goal-oriented form of therapy that focuses on helping individuals identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors. I begin by assessing clients' presenting concerns, personal history, and goals for therapy. As we work together, I help identify negative thought patterns that contribute to repeated behaviors and experiences that cause internal conflict and negatively impact quality of life. I encourage clients to engage in homework involving behavioral experiments and skill building exercises to manage symptoms and facilitate ongoing progress outside of the therapy sessions.

Existential

Existential therapy involves embracing existential principles to explore unique experiences, confront existential anxieties, and find meaning and purpose in life. My main focus is building a therapeutic alliance; establishing a trusting and empathetic relationship with clients. From there, I encourage clients to explore existential themes such as freedom, responsibility, meaning, isolation, and death. I help clients engage in self-reflection to deepen their understanding of themselves and their lived experiences. I assist clients in confronting existential anxieties and uncertainties inherent in the human condition and help them recognize and accept the inevitability of existential concerns, while also empowering them to live authentically and make meaningful choices despite those uncertainties.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation involves providing clients with information about mental health conditions, treatment options, copies strategies, and resources to empower them to understand and manage their symptoms more effectively. In the process of therapy, I provide information relevant to clients' specific needs, concerns, and circumstances, and normalize their experiences, helping them understand that their symptoms and experiences are common and not a sign of personal weakness or failure. Together, we identify links between symptoms and thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and physiological responses. We explore potential causes and triggers, and the biological, psychological, social, and environmental factors that may contribute to symptoms. I introduce treatment options including psychotherapy, lifestyle changes, complementary therapies, and medication. We discuss benefits, risks, and potential side effects of each treatment modality. I teach and encourage coping strategies and promote self-care, address mental health stigma and discrimination, and provide referrals to resources and support services, such as support groups, peer networks, helplines, online resources, and community mental health organizations. I foster a sense of empowerment and self-efficacy as clients become active participants in their treatment and recovery journey.
