I enjoy working with individuals and couples who are 18 years or older. My clients wish to improve their lives, address symptoms of Trauma, CPTSD, PTSD, Anxiety, Depression and relationship issues. I also work with those who are struggling with grief, life changes, workplace bullying and self-esteem. I offer a free, one-time 15-minute phone consultation so that we can determine if I am a good fit for your goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I like to utilize the first 2-3 sessions getting to know my client, their history and their concerns. This also allows new clients to get to know me and hopefully feel more comfortable and open to the process. I like to get into the real work by the 3rd or 4th session, but the client is always in charge as this is their journey. We are each different and come from different experiences, so I honor the client's sense of what they need or want.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My clients and colleagues have stated they appreciate and value my warm, caring and non-judgmental nature. Clients have often stated they appreciate my shared and lived experiences as it provides real life examples they can relate to and integrate.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy or CBT is a form of therapy found to be helpful in addressing depression and anxiety among other challenges. I utilize CBT in combination with other therapeutic modalities to help clients meet their goals. Addressing the thoughts that might lead us astray is integral to the healing process.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy or DBT provides skills to help individuals manage intense emotions, navigate difficult experiences and develop healthier relationships. DBT incorporates practices found in mindfulness to calm and focus the mind and people find it helpful in managing or overcoming suicidal or self harm thoughts/behaviors and trauma. I combine DBT with the other modalities in my practice to provide individuals with the tools they need to be successful.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing is by far my favorite tool to help people whose goal includes reduction or elimination of the effects of trauma, PTSD, CPTSD. This technique involves less talk therapy and more a reduction in trigger responses and allowing the brain to engage in the natural healing process.

Couples Counseling

I work with couples who wish to improve their communication, ability to navigate difficult experiences and conversations in a productive manner, and regain their emotional and physical intimacy. I bring both training in Gottman Couple's Therapy and lived experience to session.

Gottman method

Gottman Therapy was developed by Dr.'s John and Julie Gottman and begins with a thorough assessment of relationship strengths and weaknesses. Gottman Therapy also incorporates well researched interventions based on the Sound Relationship House theory, helping each couple build a more empathetic and integrated relationship.
