I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in San Diego, CA but I am also licensed in Indiana. I moved to CA in 2020 with my husband and two children. I have been a therapist for over 15 years, and I have worked in schools, crisis, outpatient, inpatient and moved into private practice full time in 2016. I became trained and certified in EMDR in 2016, and when COVID hit in 2020, moved my practice entirely online. I work mostly with young adults and women with trauma, eating disorders, and relationship issues.
In our first session you can expect an introduction, and some time going over expectations. We will also spend time getting to know one another so that rapport and trust can be built. You can also expect me to ask some background information from you so that I can get a better understanding of how to help you and make your therapy the best fit for you. I have a laid back therapy style, so you won't ever see me In a button down suit. I want you to feel safe and comfortable from the start.
I find that my clients feel very comfortable with me. I am relatable and easy to talk to, and try my best to help my clients feel safe. While I do have a laid back approach in how I talk with my clients, I am extremely knowledgeable and experienced with complex trauma, and can help clients make connections that they have never been able to make before in past therapy.
I love working with young adults and adults who may be struggling to figure out why they are struggling with things in their lives. I enjoy working with people who are ready to make changes.
CBT is frequently used to help with illogical thought patterns and catastrophic thinking. This is very common in depression and anxiety.
Individuals wishing to become more self-aware, stop negative thinking, and lead a life more aligned with their values may benefit from ACT. This therapeutic method can be particularly helpful to those who are experiencing anxiety or chronic mental illnesses that there is no "cure" for. It helps you "Accept" the situations you are in and committing to not letting it control the rest of your life.
I am a Certified EMDR Therapist. This therapy is an evidence based practice that is trauma based. It is proven to help complex trauma, PTSD, and more in a faster and more effective manner than traditional talk therapy.
IFS is often used with clients who suffer from complex trauma and dissociation. This is where we explore the different "parts" of you and how they are connected to who you are today.
Supportive therapy techniques are always used in every session to help a client feel heard, safe and validated.
