You do not have to struggle with your thoughts and emotions in silence. A peaceful life is possible no matter what the surrounding circumstances are. We are mostly troubled by our perceptions of the situations around us, not by the situations themselves. Sometimes, our thoughts are the scary part of our story, not our reality. And even when reality gets harsh, our thoughts and the way we see this reality will determine how we feel about it and how much we suffer. I am an LPC who practices mostly cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). I share the tools that are not only evidence-based and supported by extensive research but also that I've seen work with me and my clients/patients. Working on our thoughts and behaviors will affect every aspect of our lives, and relationships. We do not have to be a hostage to our unhelpful thoughts, we have tools to work on that. Anxiety, depression, PTSD, OCD, and relationship troubles are only some of many examples where this kind of therapy can help, and I would like to be that therapist who can help you achieve that change in your life.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

When you come in, I will listen attentively to your story because you are the expert on that, not me. You know your priorities and the areas that are bothering you the most. It can range from a diagnosed psychopathology that you have struggled with to self-development goals that you would like to achieve. I will present to you in more detail the foundation of my theoretical orientation and the tools that I use. towards the end of our first session. I use worksheets to help visualize what we will be working with. You will bring in your issues and whatever goals you see prior and we will take it from there.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My experience with using cognitive tools, especially through CBT, CPT, and ACT has made me feel that I am standing on solid ground and that I can truly help my patients develop, and achieve their goals. I strongly believe in research and it gives me a boost of confidence to work with these well-established models of therapy. I have trained under experts in CPT, and I have co-trained in some courses to help other clinicians.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I used ACT tools often with mood disorders (anxiety and depression and others). These tools are evidence based and proven to help with these disorders and more.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My main training is CBT. I used it in different settings, with various age groups and different populations. CBT is a strongly supported evidence based model of therapy, that I have seen very effective for a variety of psychological issues.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Currently I an a CPT provider, which means that I have gone through extensive, training and consultation from CPT experts on my PTSD patients so that I could attain the status of a provider. CPT is a very well-established, evidence based method of therapy for PTSD. IT aims to eliminate the symptoms of the disorder, not simply to cope with them. I have clearly witnessed that in my practice several times.

Couples Counseling

I have now accumulated a sizable experience in dealing with couples especially those from the Muslim and/or Arab cultural backgrounds. Based on my my post-graduate courses in family therapy as well as my experience with couples, I am confident to say that I can help couples move to a better place in their relationship.

Family Therapy

I have accumulated some considerable experience dealing with family problems which was supported by my cultural sensitivity and awareness. My experience with families has been encouraging and gives me confidence to help more families.
