Hi, I'm a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) based in Maryland. I received my master's degree in mental health counseling from Johns Hopkins University and have been practicing for over ten years. My goal is to support adults who are struggling with anxiety, mood challenges, self-esteem issues, and navigating life transitions. I am dedicated to helping my clients achieve greater well-being and personal growth.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we'll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you're facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions. Most initial sessions last anywhere from 60-90 minutes. Most follow-up sessions are 45-60 minutes.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider lie in my down-to-earth approach and my ability to create a safe, trusted space for my clients. While many professionals have various qualifications and tools, I stand out by being genuinely open to feedback and easy to talk with. My goal is for you to feel comfortable sharing whatever you need to, knowing that you will be met with understanding and support. Additionally, am always a fan of incorporating a healthy dose of humor when appropriate.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a cornerstone of my practice, focusing on helping clients develop psychological flexibility by embracing life’s uncertainties and uncontrollable aspects. Through ACT, I guide clients in accepting their thoughts and emotions without judgment, fostering a more positive relationship with their internal experiences. This acceptance, combined with mindfulness practices and values clarification, empowers clients to engage in meaningful actions aligned with their core values, regardless of the presence of difficult thoughts or emotions. By changing how they relate to their circumstances, clients often find greater resilience and fulfillment, improving their overall well-being and ability to navigate life’s challenges. In essence, ACT is about cultivating a mindset of acceptance and commitment, enabling clients to reduce the struggle against their experiences and focus on what truly matters to them. This approach helps them lead richer, more purposeful lives by acknowledging that while we cannot control everything that happens, we can choose how we respond, thereby enhancing both their circumstances and their relationship with those circumstances.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

My therapeutic approach is also grounded in the idea that our thought patterns play an integral role in how we feel and our subsequent behaviors-> Creating an inventory of the familiar thoughts, patterns and stories that we often tell ourselves and aiming to identify any of these that may no longer be serving my clients.

Supportive

Valuing that my clients are experts of their own lives, I focus on meeting each person where they are, recognizing and expanding their readiness for change and helping facilitate their growth.
