My name is Kemerick Takang, DNP, PMHNP-BC, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with extensive experience helping children, adolescents, and adults navigate life's mental health challenges. I believe that mental health care should be compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. My goal is to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make meaningful changes in your life. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, bipolar disorder, trauma, stress, relationship difficulties, or life transitions, I am committed to helping you develop effective strategies to improve your emotional well-being and overall quality of life. My approach combines evidence-based medication management with supportive therapy, education, and practical coping skills to help you achieve lasting improvement. Together, we will identify your goals, address barriers to success, and create a treatment plan tailored specifically to your needs.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

During our first appointment, we will take time to get to know each other and discuss what brings you to treatment. I understand that starting mental health care can feel intimidating, and my priority is to make you feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning. During the initial evaluation, we will discuss: • Your current symptoms and concerns • Past mental health treatment and medication history • Medical history and overall health • Family and social support systems • Stressors affecting your life, work, school, or relationships • Sleep, appetite, energy, and daily functioning • Your goals and expectations for treatment By the end of the session, you can expect a clear understanding of my clinical impressions, treatment recommendations, and next steps. Together, we will develop a personalized plan that may include medication management, therapy recommendations, coping strategies, lifestyle modifications, or referrals when appropriate. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling understood, hopeful, and confident about your path forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

One of my greatest strengths is my ability to build strong therapeutic relationships while providing comprehensive, evidence-based psychiatric care. Patients often describe me as approachable, compassionate, attentive, and easy to talk to. I take the time to listen carefully, answer questions thoroughly, and ensure that you understand your treatment options. I specialize in working with individuals experiencing: • Anxiety disorders and panic symptoms • Depression and mood disorders • ADHD and executive functioning difficulties • Bipolar disorders • Trauma and PTSD • Stress and burnout related to work, school, or caregiving responsibilities • Emotional regulation challenges • Life transitions and adjustment difficulties I am particularly well-positioned to help professionals, healthcare workers, college students, adolescents, young adults, and individuals balancing multiple responsibilities who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or emotionally exhausted. My treatment philosophy is simple: every person deserves personalized care that addresses not only symptoms but also the underlying factors contributing to emotional distress. Together, we will work toward improved mental wellness, greater resilience, and a more fulfilling life.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

My ideal clients are individuals who are functioning on the outside but struggling internally—often dealing with ADHD, anxiety, burnout, or emotional overwhelm. Many are professionals, students, or high-achieving individuals who are used to pushing through, but are starting to feel mentally exhausted, unfocused, or stuck. They are typically motivated for change and want more than quick fixes—they’re looking to understand what’s driving their symptoms and develop practical, sustainable strategies to improve how they feel and function. I’m best positioned to work with clients who value a thoughtful, collaborative approach, where we combine medication management with insight, structure, and real-life application to help them regain clarity, stability, and control.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

This treatment method aims to identify and alter maladaptive thought patterns that are contributing to psychological issues. We employ solution-oriented talk therapy, focusing on the belief that behaviors are influenced by distorted thoughts and perceptions. We identify and evaluate the patient's thought patterns and develop a plan to address the difficulties linked to their mental state. Because situations are unique to the individual, evidence-based tailored plan is person-centered.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Psychotherapy known as mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) combines elements of CBT with meditation and the practice of an attitude of nonjudgmental awareness of the present moment. We used different techniques to achieve a state of self-awareness of the body, and thoughts and become more aware of the present moment.
