I'm a dedicated therapist specializing in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), focusing on helping clients overcome anxiety, depression, and stress-related issues. I have over 15 years of experience with adolescents, college students, and adults. I create a supportive, non-judgmental environment where we work together to identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. My goal is to empower you with practical skills and strategies to improve your mental well-being and achieve your personal goals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In their first session with me, clients can expect a welcoming and supportive environment where we will begin by discussing their reasons for seeking therapy and their main concerns. I will ask questions to gather a detailed history, including their personal background, current challenges, and any previous therapy experiences. This initial assessment helps me understand their unique situation and identify any negative thought patterns or behaviors that may be contributing to their distress. I will also explain the basics of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), including its principles and how it works. We will discuss the structure of CBT, what a typical session looks like, and the importance of homework assignments. This introduction aims to set clear expectations and demystify the therapeutic process. Together, we will start to establish specific, measurable, and achievable goals for therapy. I will encourage clients to share their therapy objectives and what they hope to achieve. This goal-setting process is collaborative and helps to ensure that therapy is tailored to their individual needs. By the end of the first session, clients will have a better understanding of how CBT can help them and what to expect in future sessions. They will leave with a sense of direction and the reassurance that they are taking a proactive step towards improving their mental health.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

In Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I use a structured and collaborative approach with my clients. Initially, I assess the client's issues and goals, identifying negative thought patterns and behaviors. I educate clients about the CBT model, emphasizing the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and teach about cognitive distortions like black-and-white thinking and catastrophizing. Together, we set specific, measurable, and achievable goals. I help clients become aware of negative thoughts that arise in various situations, using techniques such as thought records to track these thoughts. Then, I teach clients to question and challenge these negative thoughts, employing evidence-based techniques to test their validity. I also utilize behavioral techniques, such as encouraging clients to engage in mood-improving activities (behavioral activation) and using exposure therapy for anxiety by gradually facing feared situations. Additionally, I help clients develop coping strategies, including problem-solving skills, relaxation techniques, and stress management strategies. I assign homework to practice the skills learned in sessions, and we review these assignments in subsequent sessions to reinforce learning and address any difficulties. Finally, I regularly review progress towards goals and develop a plan for maintaining progress and preventing relapse after therapy concludes.
