My name is Dr. Joanna White, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Connecticut. I hold a School Counseling Certification in Connecticut, serve as a University Professor in Human Services and Social Work, and bring additional experience as a yoga teacher and social-emotional learning facilitator, backgrounds that deepen my holistic, mind-body approach to care. I truly believe therapy can be beneficial for everyone (I go myself!) and see it as a powerful opportunity to work through life’s challenges in a safe and supportive environment. In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session, we’ll take some time to connect and get to know each other. I’ll learn more about you, your story, your experiences, and what’s bringing you in, and I’ll also share a bit about myself and how I work. From there, we’ll gently explore the challenges you’re facing and begin identifying what you’d like to gain from our time together. This helps us create a personalized path forward, with goals that feel meaningful and supportive as we continue working together.

I bring a positive, solution-focused perspective into our work, helping you take ownership of your life and move toward next steps that feel aligned and empowering. With experience across K–12, higher education, and the professional world, I offer a well-rounded perspective and practical tools to help you navigate a variety of life challenges.

I’ve been working with Joanna weekly for the last year and I’ve appreciated her reframes, encouragement and challenges especially during challenging weeks. Often a quick reframe with an exercise it’s just what I need to move forward in an alignedway.
