Are you feeling stuck, telling yourself that you are going to change, but somehow ending up doing exactly what you promised yourself you wouldn’t do? Do you convince yourself that you are going to move forward and then find that anxiety, hopelessness, harsh self-judgments, or a bad temper take control and push you backwards? Do you find yourself in relationship patterns that leave you feeling cut off from those you long to be close too? If this sounds familiar, you don't have to face this alone. There are reasons you feel this way, and you can discover what those reasons are and how you can change to live a more fulfilling life. You may feel stuck because the way you are trying to solve your problems is by going back to the same strategies that got you stuck in the first place. It can be confusing seeing yourself stuck in thoughts and behaviors you know don’t work. Often this is because in the moment those strategies appear to be the only sensible choice, even when they aren’t. If you choose to work with me, together we can explore the ins and outs of that confusion so that you can find your way out of it. Because that can often feel threatening and disorienting, I will be patient and give you the space and safety needed to do this work at your own pace. Be that fast or slow or in-between. I look forward to working with you.
What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?
In our first session together I will listen to your story: What has brought you therapy? Is there anything about your life journey that has brought you to this point that you want to share? I will ask you questions to better help me understand the difficulties you are facing. I also am open to clients asking anything about me that helps them decide if I am good fit for their needs.
Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.
One of my strengths as a therapist is my experience. I have been providing counseling for diverse populations with a wide range of issues over decades. Long experience allows me to see complex patterns of emotion and behavior and understand how to help my clients become aware of these patterns, their consequences, and how they can change the negative patterns that bind them. Another strength I am very fortunate to possess is that I love my work as a therapist, and it is truly meaningful and enjoyable for me to help my clients progress. Lastly, I take care of myself and I keep the number of clients I work with to a very manageable level so that when I come to session, I am able to give my clients my full focus and attention.
