Hello! I'm a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with over 16 years of experience in mental health care. I began my career as a psychiatric registered nurse in 2009 and transitioned into the nurse practitioner role after recognizing the growing need for compassionate, accessible psychiatric providers. I have a genuine passion for supporting individuals on their mental health journey. My approach is collaborative and patient-centered—I believe in working as a team to find the treatment plan that best fits your unique needs and goals. I'll walk you through your options and help you make informed decisions every step of the way. Whether you're exploring medication, therapy, or other treatment approaches, I'm here to support you with empathy, experience, and evidence-based care.

Get to know me

In our first session together, here's what you can expect

Our first session is all about getting to know you—your story, your goals, and what’s bringing you in. I’ll take the time to listen carefully and ask questions about your mental health history, current concerns, medical background, and any previous treatment you've tried. This is a judgment-free space where you can speak openly and honestly at your own pace. We’ll work together to get a clear understanding of your symptoms, daily functioning, and how these challenges are impacting your life. From there, I’ll begin to outline potential treatment options tailored to your needs—whether that includes medication, therapy referrals, lifestyle adjustments, or a combination of approaches. I believe in making treatment decisions as a team. You’ll never be pressured into anything—my goal is to help you feel informed, heard, and empowered to choose what feels right for you. By the end of the session, we’ll have a starting plan in place and next steps for moving forward.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

What sets my approach apart is my ability to blend clinical expertise with genuine compassion and collaboration. I believe mental health treatment works best when it's personalized, nonjudgmental, and rooted in trust. Some of my key strengths include: Collaborative, team-based care: I don’t take a one-size-fits-all approach. I take time to explain your options clearly so we can make treatment decisions together—whether that includes medication, therapy, or lifestyle changes. Holistic understanding of mental health: With over 16 years in the field, I bring a deep understanding of how mental, emotional, and physical health are connected. I consider the full picture—not just symptoms—in your treatment plan. Calm, supportive presence: Clients often tell me they feel heard, respected, and safe during our sessions. I aim to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself, even on the hardest days. Skilled in managing complex and fluctuating symptoms: Whether you're dealing with mood instability, anxiety, ADHD, or challenges that don’t fit neatly into a box, I’m experienced in helping clients find stability and relief. Committed to empowerment and education: I help you understand your symptoms and treatment options so you feel confident, not confused, about your care.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I work best with individuals who are ready to take an active role in their mental health and are open to exploring treatment options with a collaborative, informed approach. My ideal clients may be experiencing: Mood disorders such as depression, bipolar disorder, or mood instability Anxiety and panic disorders, including generalized anxiety, social anxiety, and work-related stress ADHD and related focus or executive functioning challenges Anger, irritability, or emotional dysregulation that impacts relationships or daily functioning Sleep disturbances and difficulty maintaining a healthy routine Chronic stress or burnout, particularly among working adults and caregivers I also work with individuals who may have tried medication or therapy in the past but are looking for a more personalized, supportive, and team-based approach to care. Many of my clients value a space where they can openly discuss their concerns without judgment and feel empowered in making decisions about their treatment. Whether you're navigating a new diagnosis, managing ongoing symptoms, or seeking clarity on your mental health, I strive to provide a safe, collaborative environment to help you move toward greater stability and well-being.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have training and clinical experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), one of the most well-researched and widely used therapeutic approaches for treating a range of mental health conditions. While I primarily provide medication management, I integrate CBT-informed strategies into my sessions to help clients identify and shift unhelpful thought patterns, manage symptoms, and develop healthier coping skills. CBT can be especially effective for individuals dealing with: Depression and low motivation Anxiety and panic attacks Negative self-talk or low self-esteem Stress-related symptoms ADHD-related thought and behavior patterns In our sessions, I may help you explore how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected and work with you to develop more adaptive ways of thinking and responding. These techniques can help reduce emotional distress and support better decision-making alongside medication treatment. For clients who would benefit from more structured CBT therapy, I also coordinate care with therapists trained in CBT, ensuring a comprehensive and cohesive treatment plan.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I have training and clinical experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), a highly effective, evidence-based approach that focuses on helping individuals manage intense emotions, reduce impulsive behaviors, and build healthier relationships. While I am not a full-program DBT provider, I frequently incorporate DBT-informed techniques into my psychiatric practice to support emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness, and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT can be especially useful for clients struggling with: Mood instability or intense emotional responses Impulsivity or anger outbursts Self-destructive behaviors Anxiety and difficulty managing stress Relationship difficulties or communication challenges In our work together, I may introduce DBT-based tools and coping strategies that you can apply in your daily life. These skills can complement medication management or stand alone as part of your treatment plan. My goal is to help you feel more in control of your emotions and better equipped to respond to life’s challenges without becoming overwhelmed. I also collaborate with therapists who specialize in DBT when clients need more structured or intensive skills training, ensuring you receive well-rounded support.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a foundational part of my approach to mental health care. It’s a collaborative, client-centered method that helps individuals explore their own motivations for change—especially when feeling uncertain or ambivalent about starting treatment, making lifestyle adjustments, or addressing difficult behaviors. I use MI to create a safe, nonjudgmental space where you feel heard and understood—not pressured. Rather than telling you what to do, I help guide a conversation that draws out your personal values, goals, and internal strengths. Together, we can explore what's getting in the way of change, what matters most to you, and how to move forward in a way that feels right for you. This approach is especially helpful for clients who are: Unsure about starting or continuing medication Struggling with substance use or other habitual behaviors Feeling stuck in cycles of avoidance or self-sabotage Dealing with chronic stress or burnout Facing life transitions or difficult decisions Motivational Interviewing works well alongside medication management and other therapies. It supports lasting, meaningful change by helping you clarify your own reasons for growth—making progress feel more natural and self-directed, rather than forced.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is a key part of how I support clients in their mental health journey. I believe that when you understand what’s happening in your mind and body, you’re better equipped to make informed, confident decisions about your care. In our work together, I take the time to explain your diagnosis, symptoms, and how different treatment options—such as medications, lifestyle changes, or therapeutic strategies—can help. I break things down in a clear, accessible way, so you don’t feel overwhelmed by clinical language or medical jargon. You can expect to learn about: How mental health conditions like anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or ADHD affect the brain and body How medications work, what to expect, and how to weigh benefits vs. side effects Strategies for improving sleep, managing stress, and supporting emotional regulation The role of nutrition, exercise, substance use, and daily habits in mental wellness What signs to look for as indicators of progress—or signals that we may need to adjust your treatment plan Psychoeducation is not just about sharing information—it's about empowering you to take an active role in your care. When you understand why we’re doing something, you're more likely to feel engaged, hopeful, and committed to the process. My goal is to be a partner in your mental health—not just prescribing, but educating, supporting, and helping you build the knowledge and tools needed to feel your best.

Supportive

Supportive therapy is an important part of how I engage with clients during our sessions. While my primary focus is psychiatric evaluation and medication management, I strongly believe that having a safe, consistent, and validating space to talk through life’s challenges is just as essential to healing. In supportive therapy, the relationship we build becomes a foundation for growth. I provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where you can express your thoughts and feelings openly—whether you’re processing daily stress, difficult emotions, or past experiences. This approach helps reduce emotional distress, increase resilience, and promote healthy coping strategies. Supportive therapy is especially helpful for clients who are: Feeling overwhelmed, isolated, or emotionally drained Adjusting to major life changes such as grief, relationship transitions, or illness Managing chronic mental health conditions and need ongoing emotional support Navigating complex family, work, or social dynamics Looking for a safe space to be heard and validated without pressure Through active listening, gentle guidance, and consistent encouragement, I help you feel supported and understood, even during times of uncertainty. This approach can also enhance the effectiveness of medication and other treatments by fostering trust, insight, and emotional stability. Supportive therapy doesn’t follow a rigid structure—it’s flexible and tailored to meet you where you are. Whether you need help processing a crisis or simply want a space to talk and be heard, I’m here to walk alongside you as you work toward greater emotional wellness.
