My name is Brooke McKenzie and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and over 20 years of experience in clinical practice. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with individuals, couples, and families with a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, addiction, and more. I have worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings, in both private and public practice. My work has taken me to diverse settings, including state hospitals, jails, courtrooms, schools, and private offices. I have a strong commitment to providing quality services to my clients and strive to ensure that each individual is able to get the best possible care. My experience and expertise in the field of mental health allow me to provide a comprehensive approach to treatment, including the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy, psychodynamic approaches, and cognitive reprocessing. I am also trained in the use of mind-body therapies, such as meditation to help my clients manage their stress and anxiety. I have a passion for helping people to make positive changes in their lives and take steps towards improved health and well-being. My commitment to my clients’ health and well-being is the cornerstone of my practice and I am dedicated to helping people reach their potential.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first therapy appointment, both the therapist and client will introduce themselves and discuss the reason the client is seeking treatment. The therapist may ask questions to assess the client’s current situation and establish a foundation for the relationship. The therapist will want to get an idea of what the client’s goals are for the therapy process and may discuss preliminary goals. The therapist may also provide the client with an overview of the therapeutic process and provide additional information.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strength as a therapist is my unique approach - I strive to be both kind and loving but also challenging of old, unhelpful beliefs. I believe that in order for any kind of true progress to be made, it is important to recognize and address underlying beliefs that are holding us back. I use a combination of empathy and directness to help my clients uncover and work through these beliefs in order to make meaningful and lasting changes. My goal is to help my clients build a healthier, happier relationship with themselves and those around them.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have been using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for the past 15 years in my practice as a mental health professional. CBT is an evidence-based approach to treating a wide range of mental health issues, from depression and anxiety to addiction and trauma. CBT helps identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns that can lead to negative behaviors and emotions. It also promotes strategies to help make changes to help improve wellbeing. I have found CBT to be an effective and efficient way of helping my clients to manage their mental health and make positive changes. By helping to identify and modify unhealthy thoughts and behaviors, CBT can help reduce distress and improve functioning. I have seen great results in the clients I have worked with, including improved self-esteem, better coping skills, improved relationships, and increased insight into their mental health issues. I believe that CBT is an invaluable tool in helping people to manage their mental health and lead healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Couples Counseling

Couples therapy is a specific type of psychotherapy that is designed to help couples work through the issues that arise in their relationship. Couples therapy is a form of therapy that assists couples in understanding and resolving conflicts and communication issues within their relationship. It is important to understand the different methods of couples therapy that can help couples build a stronger and healthier relationship. With 15 years of experience in couples therapy, I have developed a comprehensive approach to helping couples work through their issues.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution-focused brief therapy is a goal-oriented approach to helping clients achieve positive change. It is based on the belief that, by focusing on solutions instead of problems, individuals can learn to create their own solutions and take an active role in their own healing process. With 15 years of experience, I have successfully helped many clients overcome their challenges and reach their goals through this method. By focusing on the client's strengths and resources, I am able to support them in finding solutions to their problems and creating positive changes in their life.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT therapy is a type of psychotherapy that emphasizes acceptance and mindfulness. It helps individuals become more aware of their thoughts and feelings in order to take action in the present moment. With 15 years of experience, I have developed the skills to help people identify their values and understand how their thoughts and emotions can affect their behavior. Through the use of ACT techniques, I strive to help people build skills to help them create a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

I have been providing Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) to clients for the past 15 years. CPT involves teaching clients to recognize and challenge negative thought patterns in order to reduce their symptoms and increase their quality of life. I use evidence-based techniques to help clients identify their unhelpful thoughts, understand the impact these thoughts have on their mood and behavior, and learn new strategies to manage their symptoms. Through years of experience I have developed an effective approach to CPT, helping countless clients to make positive and lasting changes in their lives.
