My name is Mariane Makkar, LCSW in California. I received my graduate degree from the University of Southern California, in Los Angeles. I have been practicing in psychiatric behavioral & mental health since 2017 in a variety of settings. My journey has been unique and authentic. I implement this in my work daily. I am looking forward to learning about your story!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

Our first session will begin with establishing a positive and trusting rapport. This allows to effectively understand a client’s problem and to collaboratively develop a treatment plan. I am resourceful and flexible so clients can be supported in an individualized way based on their goals and needs.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I enjoy connecting with each client by learning their individual stories. By understanding the client, I can connect them to a specific modality for treatment. I am empathic and caring. My goal is to support each of my clients reflect on their lives and become emotionally strong.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I believe that the success of my clients is their commitment to therapy. This is the client’s biggest accomplishment, beginning something that they likely thought was impossible. I support my clients by helping them reduce the intensity of their symptoms by developing healthy coping skills. Similarly, when clients can set clear, specific goals they become attainable. Self-acceptance is also success for my clients. Once my clients have developed self-acceptance, then they can understand their feelings and emotions.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I work with my clients collaboratively to develop a strategy together in implementing CBT. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy involves a positive change in a negative thinking pattern. I support my client by allowing them to better understand their behaviors and thoughts are connection and motivate their behaviors. Then I support my client with using problem-solving skills to cope with difficult situations, to change their negative thoughts.
