I have a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Lenoir-Rhyne College now Lenoir- Rhyne University. I graduated in May 2005 I regularly participate in professional development activities which allow me to better serve you as a counselor. On December 8, 2006, I became a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in the state of North Carolina. I believe that you have the right to choose what is best for you. As the client you will be able to direct the course of your treatment. You will also set your own goals for the counseling process and will be allowed to determine what services you need to meet your goals. During your sessions you will be treated with the respect and unconditional positive regard without judgment of what you “should” or “should not” do. I am here to listen and help you discover resources within yourself, through personal relationships, and in the community in a way that best meets your personal needs.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

During the first session I will inform you of my qualifications and experience as a therapist. I will answer any questions regarding the therapeutic process. We will discuss your reasons for seeking therapy services. we will also discuss your individual goals which will help me to develop a tailored treat plan to meet your needs and help to lead our discussions in future sessions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I believe my biggest strength is my ability to relate to clients with diverse backgrounds. I show empathy through active listening, reflection, and unconditional positive regard.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I view the problems that people have in their lives as developmental in nature. This means that at certain times in a person’s life they can expect to face certain challenges that may require that they seek counseling in order to address them. I approach Mental Health Counseling from a Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral orientation. I approach Substance Use Counseling from a Motivational Interviewing and Harm Reduction orientation.
