My name is Erica D. Fulton, owner and founder of The Calm Corner. We serve individuals ages 12 and up who are managing to orient to life after a loss, struggling to manage ADHD symptoms, struggling to maintain sobriety, or those who simply need a safe space and a listening ear. We accomplish these goals by implementing evidence-based treatment and helping clients to create tailor made ADHD strategies. The heart and purpose of The Calm Corner is that our clients not just survive but thrive and live out their purpose.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session will consist of me explaining to the client what informed consent, confidentiality, the limits of confidentiality, and a duty to warn. I will ask a series of questions pertaining to employment history, relational history, trauma history, legal history, and so forth. I also give the client an opportunity to ask questions and I engage in the intervention of reflecting.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My greatest strengths as a provider are being compassionate, empathetic, having the lived experience of widowhood as well as being an African American woman with ADHD, validating the client's emotions, being curious, my resiliency, being able to treat co-occurring disorders. My other strengths include in depth knowledge of trauma, specializes in trauma, grief, and loss. My practice is based on factors that treat the whole individual not just temporary solutions.

Describe the client(s) you are best positioned to serve.

I am positioned to serve the client that struggles with trauma, grief, and loss. Because of my in depth knowledge of trauma and loss, I can help clients identify the task of grief with which they are struggling as well as integrating cognitive behavioral therapy to identify any possible problematic patterns that is connected to the grief. Due to my experience as a trained chaplain, I am able to sit and offer my clients the ministry of presence when needed.
