New to Grow
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) & Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), who is a passionate advocate for emotional wellness and mental health awareness. Raised in the Caribbean, where stigma around therapy often silenced emotional struggles, inspired my commitment to help others heal and grow without shame or fear. I hold a BA in Forensic Psychology and MA in Forensic Mental Health Counseling from John Jay College, and have years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral challenges, emotional regulation, and relational conflict. I support clients in understanding that therapy is a collaborative process done at their own pace to achieve the life change or improvement that they desire.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
Mental health is just as important as physical health. Seeking therapy shows courage in acknowledging one's limits and obtaining support to gain the ideal healing one’s body and mind deserve. Therefore, I encourage clients to recognize the win of just being able to show-up to their sessions. Each session with me will be in a safe environment where it’s okay to not have it all figured out or to feel like you have it all figured out.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
I support clients in understanding that therapy is a collaborative process done at their own pace to achieve the life change or improvement that they desire.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My therapeutic approach is collaborative, culturally sensitive, and paced according to your comfort and needs. I believe in creating a supportive space where you feel safe to process, reflect, and take meaningful steps toward the change or clarity you seek. Through trauma-informed approaches, CBT, EFT, mindfulness practices, parent aide, behavioral interventions; sessions are judgement free and affirming. Whether you’re managing life transitions, struggling with self-worth, relational issues within professional settings or on a personal level, or simply feeling stuck; therapy can help you increase your self-awareness, understand the possibility of change, learn steps for obtaining an optimal level of wellness and stability; and I’m here to support you through the process.
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
I use CBT to collaboratively help clients identify and gently challenge unhelpful thought patterns while reinforcing existing strengths and supporting meaningful change at a pace that feels safe and manageable for them.
Psychoeducation
I provide psychoeducation to empower clients with understanding about their experiences, normalizing their responses and encouraging self-awareness in a way that supports confidence, choice, and informed coping.
Compassion Focused
I integrate compassion-focused interventions to help clients cultivate self-kindness, reduce self-criticism, and build emotional safety while honoring their individual readiness for growth.
Couples Counseling
In couples counseling, I create a supportive and neutral space where partners’ strengths are highlighted, communication is encouraged with empathy, and relational growth unfolds collaboratively at a pace aligned with both individuals’ needs.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
I utilize EFT to help clients identify and express underlying emotions, strengthen emotional bonds, and foster secure connections through a client-centered, strength-based process that prioritizes safety and gradual change.
