Hi, I'm Marlena. Do you feel overwhelmed by everything that's going on in your life and are unsure what to do next? Is stress causing you to feel paralyzed? Do you struggle to balance your relationships or to be kind to yourself? I help adults with many different mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, substance use, self-esteem, relationship issues, and stress. We can work together to figure out what you can do to start feeling better. I use a strengths-based perspective, helping to use your strengths as a starting point to wellness. Whether you're dealing with stress, relationship issues, or cycles of anxiety or depression, I'm here to help. I know that starting therapy can be scary. My goal during therapy is to give you a safe place where you can process your thoughts and feelings without judgment. Together, we'll navigate a path to help you start identifying triggers and find coping skills that work to help get you on the path to wellness. I'm here to support you every step of the way!

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we’ll start with brief introductions and I’ll ask some questions to get to know you better. After that, we’ll dive into talking about why you decided to start therapy and begin discussing a plan to help you on the path to reaching your goals. My goal in the first session is to help you understand what our sessions will look like and start outlining what your goals are for therapy.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a great listener and ready to talk about what's going on in your life. I am non-judgmental and happy to help you find balance in your life. I can help hold you accountable to your goals and will stress how important self-care is when it comes to your overall well-being.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have used CBT since I started doing therapy in 2015. I find that learning how to challenge your thoughts and addressing negative thinking can be a very helpful tool when dealing with negative self-talk. During sessions, we will talk about how our thoughts and beliefs inform our feelings and actions. We will work together to challenge unhelpful thinking and channel more productive and healthy thinking.

Motivational Interviewing

Motivational interviewing can be helpful to empower you to change by helping to find a solution to your problems. I use curiosity and reflecting thoughts to explore how you're feeling. I'll use open-ended questions to draw out more information and help you sort through what you feel is the best course of action.
