I am Angela Velez, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the greater Atlanta area, and I’d love to help you on your journey toward healing and self-discovery. At this time, all sessions are conducted using HIPAA compliant telehealth formats for the states of Connecticut, Maryland, and Georgia. I've been a therapist for 19 years, graduating from East Tennessee State University and Arizona State University, with graduate degrees in counseling and applied behavioral analysis.

Therapy is a process of growth and self-discovery. In my therapy sessions, I promote behavioral transformation by encouraging a positive outlook and adoption of new attitudes to trust your own resiliency. I walk with you on your journey of self discovery and support you while you work through barriers that are keeping you from being the best version of you.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I implement effective psychotherapy methods to instill self-understanding among individuals and encourage them to adopt new attitudes and feelings towards life situations. Since beginning my journey as a counselor in 2005, I have provided therapeutic supports for children, families and individuals. From small scale circumstances, to traumatic experiences - my services are personalized to suit everyone’s needs.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT addresses trauma, anxiety, depression and other thought traps effectively and is used as homework between sessions, to challenge negative thoughts and develop healthier thought patterns for symptom reduction. 19 years experience.

Cognitive Processing (CPT)

Trauma therapy for adults that lasts for 12 weeks, requiring homework to process trauma histories in a healthy manner, to let go of trauma responses and learn to live with peace and joy. I've offered trauma therapy since 2007.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

Learn to be present, with overall symptom reduction in depression and anxiety and focus on the things that matter most to you.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Behavioral activation plans are developed for quicker symptom reduction and to overcome life's barriers and learn to move forward in a healthier way.
