Hello! My name is Jessica Aleman, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) serving the wonderful people of Texas. I have over 10 years experience in direct practice. Right now, I am working part-time as a therapist in addition to my full time position. One of my favorite things to do is spend time at the beach with my husband and spending time with my dogs Piper and Leo. I knew from a young age that I wanted to help people in some capacity and during school settled into social work. Experiences I have had growing up with my family allowed wonderful mental health professionals to help various family members on different things, and I am happy to now be that person who can support others. I have a great deal of experience providing treatment for a number of different diagnoses, including anxiety, depression, and mood disorders (among others). I also have experience working with the LGBTQ+ community to provide support and connection to resources. I have worked in a variety of settings, from community mental health, school based counseling (K-12 and higher education), and private practice settings. I believe that people are not defined by their experiences or what has happened to them in their past. Some of us just need some help to move forward in our lives past those experiences. I try my best to treat you and our therapeutic relationship with the utmost respect and understanding. My passion is working with young adults as they transition to the next stage in life, whatever that may be. I love supporting people through life changes and transitions, allowing people to blossom into who they truly are.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will begin to get to know each other with introductions. I am happy to answer any questions for you about my approach to treatment, past experiences, schooling, and other relevant information about my professional experience. We will focus on why you are making the decision to seek out treatment, your personal background, family history, medical details, and any other information you think is relevant for me to know so I can understand where you're coming from. By reviewing the challenges you are facing, this will help me to form a plan in our future sessions together and how to best address your needs. Please know that if any questions make you uncomfortable, you do not have to answer them, just know that any information you share with me will put me in a better position to support you!

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have a fairly laid back approach and a good sense of humor. I can be assertive but always respectful. I will listen to whatever you want to talk about, and facilitate a discussion about your goals and how I can best support you to achieve them. Some things may be difficult to talk about and leave you feeling uncomfortable, but I strive to create a space where you feel like you can talk about anything without fear of judgement.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy has been a large part of my practice throughout my career, using this treatment method to help people identify unhealthy, negative thought patterns. By helping to identify unhealthy thoughts, we can begin to avoid the associated negative feelings. We will use CBT to see how emotions, thoughts, and behaviors are interconnected and to learn how to adjust your thinking to manage your emotions and behaviors.

Trauma Informed Care

Throughout my career, I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced different types of trauma throughout their lives. I do my best to ensure that sessions are a safe place for healing and recovery. During our sessions together, we will focus on how your life experiences are affecting your life so that you can re-establish control of your life.

Family Therapy

The majority of my career I have worked with adolescents and young adults on their relationships with various family members. During sessions, we can work together so family members can better understand each other and/or work through difficult situations. Clients should feel free to invite family members to sessions as they are comfortable.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Solution Focused Brief Treatment I have used often, either in conjunction with other treatment methods or as a single treatment method. Clients are able to identify their strengths to utilize them and finding effective solutions to the challenges they are facing.

Strength-Based

As a social worker, strength-based treatment is always at the core of my sessions. Together, we will focus on your abilities, knowledge, and capacities as opposed to focusing on deficits. By keeping your strengths at the forefront, clients are capable of growth, learning, and change.
