I am a licensed mental health counselor in the State of Michigan, with over twenty-five years of experience, working with individuals from all walks of life. I have assisted individuals with depression, anxiety, and abuse issues. I hold a special certification in treating addictions. My experience includes trauma in the burns and emergency department in an urban hospital, Dual Diagnosis, Severe and Persistent Mental Disorders, and patients with mood disorders. After retiring (kind of!) I worked at Brighton Center for Recovery. Since Covid, I have worked remotely.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I listen to your concerns. I want to learn what you have tried, what has been helpful, and what has not. I try and understand your core values, patterns of thinking, feelings , and consequently behaviors. I want to know what is important to you and what is getting in the way so we can determine our best course forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I understand that is is a privilege to be your confident. I listen to you and am invested in your improved emotional well being. I work as your partner.

My treatment methods

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I am a licensed mental health therapist with over twenty seven years of experience working with individuals who are suffering from depression, anxiety, addictions, and relationship issues. My style is to connect with you and look for patterns of thinking and behaviors that don't work and need to change. We work together to determine, what would work best for you, so you can have the life you want. I will offer you support for appropriate change. I use Solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) by focusing on the strength-based approach to psychotherapy that focuses on the solution rather than the problem. Unlike other forms of psychotherapy that analyze present problems and past causes, I work with you to concentrate on the current environment and future hopes. The three main points of Solution-Focused Therapy are If it's not broken, don't fix it If something is working, do more of it. If it's not working, do something different.
