My name is Dr. Alden Bush, and I am a bilingual, board-certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I hold a doctorate degree from Columbia University and have extensive experience working with adults dealing with various mental health issues. Some of the issues I specialize in include adult ADHD, trauma, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and mood disorders. I believe deeply in evidence-based practice and in prescribing in a way that most empower patients. I also believe in precision care and may, at times, make pharmacogenetics referrals.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

As a healthcare professional, my approach to patient care is based on a comprehensive bio-psycho-social and spiritual model. This means that when working with patients, I consider and evaluate various factors that could have contributed to their current distress or difficulty, including their biological, psychological, social, and spiritual aspects. Furthermore, I strongly believe in collaborative practice and involving patients' loved ones, faith leaders, primary care physicians, and therapists in their care. Doing so can provide a holistic approach to care that encompasses all aspects of the patient's life. If the patient holds a specific faith or spiritual belief, I consider that and incorporate it into their care plan. I believe respecting and addressing their spiritual needs is essential as part of their overall well-being. In summary, I aim to provide comprehensive patient care that addresses all aspects of their lives. By working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and involving the patient's loved ones and faith leaders, we can provide a more effective and holistic approach to care.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am a strong supporter of the combined efficacy of psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy for symptom relief. I recommend to all of my patients to find a dedicated therapist while receiving my medication management services. I strive to incorporate supportive therapy during medication management appointments to ensure that my patients are receiving holistic and well-rounded psychiatric care.

My treatment methods

Culturally Sensitive Therapy

I strongly believe that patient-centered care involves creating an environment where individuals feel empowered to share their culture and work together to achieve their health goals.

Eclectic

I consider myself to be an eclectic user of psychotherapeutic modalities. Although I am exclusively a medication manager, I frequently incorporate concepts of supportive psychotherapy. My practice is based on supportive psychotherapy, but I also provide medication management. I believe in partnering with patients and acknowledging their uniqueness. I frequently incorporate concepts of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, and Motivational Interviewing in my toolbox.
