Welcome! I'm Dr. Catherine Randall. Taking the first step to seek therapy can be hard. My goal is to support, listen, guide and advocate for you along your path to better mental health. I believe that while the path may be rocky, it can also be fun. I use humor and engaging activities to support a strong therapeutic relationship. My first goal is to create a safe and welcoming environment that allows clients to explore obstacles with concerns related to anxiety, depression, and other emotional/psychological challenges. I focus on building upon client strengths and helping develop effective interpersonal skills. I believe in a collaborative approach to problem-identification and problem-solving.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

I firmly believe that the therapeutic relationship is crucial to the change process. In the initial session, we will get to know each other, explore your therapy goals, and decide together on the best path to take moving forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I have almost 20 years of experience working as the primary mental health provider in public school settings with students of all ages (including adults) and exceptionalities. I entered private practice very intentionally due to the stressors experienced by students and their families during the pandemic. As a result, I have had the opportunity to serve a diverse client population with flexibility, creativity, and a very person-centered philosophy.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Research supports the proven effectiveness in treating depression, anxiety disorders, PTSD, OCD, and other mental health concerns. I have also seen great improvement in self-esteem, relationships and effective communication skills using CBT strategies.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

I utilize this strengths-based approach with clients to help identify "what is working" and how to build upon existing skills and capabilities. SFBT aligns well with CBT when addressing depression, anxiety disorders, relationship issues, and self-esteem. It is particularly effective with children and adolescents.

Psychoeducation

Psychoeducation is particularly important in my work with younger clients. Many children benefit from support in accessing their emotional vocabulary. This is a crucial aspect of behavior modification.
