Hi There, After receiving my BA in Psychology from California State University, Northridge and my MA in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University I found my calling in supporting and assisting adolescents and their parents with navigating educational, emotional and mental health needs on middle and high school campuses.  I quickly recognized my true joy and passion advocating for the social and emotional wellness of students and decided to broaden my scope of practice to working with students and clients of all ages and varieties. Ever since, I have enjoyed taking what I have learned from these experiences and applied them to specializing in working with diverse populations to decrease impairing symptoms of anxiety and mood disorders to improve daily functioning and quality of life. One of the most significant lessons that I have I learned is how to develop a uniquely personable Cognitive Behavioral Therapeutic style. I like to collaborate with my clients to help them create a greater sense of confidence in their own abilities and gain a better understanding of the problem and a treatment strategy.  I believe in an interactive client/person-centered approach to therapy and enjoy playing a supportive role in helping clients, interns and trainees develop skills whereby they can change their own thinking and problematic emotions and behaviors. I value unconditionally welcoming and accepting diverse clientele and believe in fostering an environment of empathy and compassion to create a safe and trustworthy space. I place importance on meeting clients at their level of comfort and patiently guiding them through positive change toward positive results.  For the past few decades of working with individual clients, couples and families, I have held these principles at the center of my practice and considers them the foundation of therapeutic success! I recognize that it can be difficult to put daily expectations and demands aside and make self-care a priority.    However I also know that there are times for all of us when life is humbling and reminds us that we are simply human.  It is in these times when we have the choice to do the most human thing possible and reach out for help.   I look forward to being your choice for support and working together soon! “EVERYONE IS GOING THROUGH SOMETHING” – KEVIN LOVE

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In the initial therapy session, clients can expect a warm and welcoming environment designed to establish a foundation of trust and openness. Together, we will discuss confidentiality agreements and the therapeutic process, ensuring clients feel secure in sharing their thoughts and feelings. I'll invite clients to articulate their reasons for seeking therapy and their goals for our work together. We'll explore relevant background information, such as personal history and current challenges, to gain a comprehensive understanding of their unique circumstances. Additionally, I'll introduce some basic therapeutic techniques and answer any questions or concerns they may have about the process. By the end of the session, clients can anticipate feeling heard, validated, and hopeful about the journey ahead as we embark on a collaborative path towards growth and healing.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

As someone who grapples with the challenges of Generalized Anxiety, accompanied by Social Anxiety, I find fulfillment in specializing in assisting others in effectively managing their own Anxiety and Mood disorders to enable them to lead fulfilling lives as their authentic selves. I prioritize dedicating time to enhancing a client's insight and comprehension of their triggers, symptoms, and behaviors that impede their well-being. Simultaneously, I explore and pinpoint legal, safe, and healthy management and coping strategies tailored to each individual's needs, promoting personal growth and an enhanced quality of life. My approach is rooted in the belief that with the right support and tools, individuals can navigate their mental health challenges and emerge stronger, empowered, and better equipped to thrive in all aspects of life.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Since 2003, I have been employing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) treatment methods with remarkable success in my work with clients. Over the years, I have witnessed the transformative impact of CBT in helping individuals navigate and overcome various challenges. By fostering a collaborative and goal-oriented therapeutic environment, I have guided clients in identifying and modifying negative thought patterns and behaviors. Through targeted interventions and evidence-based techniques, my approach has empowered clients to develop effective coping strategies and build resilience. The consistent positive outcomes and testimonials from those I have worked with serve as a testament to the enduring effectiveness of CBT in fostering psychological well-being and promoting lasting change.

EMDR

I'm thrilled to share that I've just completed training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)! This therapeutic approach has captured my interest due to its growing reputation for effectively treating various mental health conditions. EMDR involves a structured eight-phase process that utilizes bilateral stimulation, often through guided eye movements, to help individuals process distressing memories and experiences. As a therapist, I'm eager to integrate EMDR into my practice, as it has shown promising results in alleviating symptoms related to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety, and other trauma-related disorders. I believe this training will allow me to better support my clients on their journey towards healing and recovery.
