My work experience has spanned a variety of settings, through which I developed a strong clinical background rooted in ACT, DBT, and mindfulness-based approaches. As a therapist, my goal is to provide quality care using proven therapeutic approaches with compassion, dignity, and real human connection to help patients take action toward building a meaningful life enriched by connection to personal values and a deepened sense of self.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In your first session, I will focus on getting to know a bit about your background and what brings you to therapy so we can identify what your goals are for treatment. Some patients have very specific goals in mind, while others are hoping for something broader, like better clarity on life values or a stronger sense of satisfaction with the life decisions they have made. After the first meeting, I want patients to bring to therapy their thoughts and concerns to explore and process during our session together. Sometimes that looks like talking about events that have happened over the week, other times it is sharing thoughts/feelings that you don't feel comfortable to share other places in life, or sometimes it might be talking about events that happened in your past and working to understand how those events shaped you, or continue to impact you still.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked and trained with professionals in the field since 2005, I have learned to see patients as the whole-person; so much greater than the sum of their symptoms. I bring an in-depth knowledge of ACT, which provides a foundation for helping patients make the changes they want through intentional interventions and an understanding of the internal processes that keep people stuck in old patterns.

My treatment methods

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

I have been practicing therapy through the ACT model since 2009. I favor this approach for it's integration of values, mindfulness, behavioral action, emphasis on radical acceptance, and compassion. ACT can be applied with any diagnosis, and at it's heart the client's quality of living is the aim of treatment over merely reducing symptoms.

Faith based therapy

I began offering faith integration into my therapy practice in 2019, and have developed connections with local Catholic and other Christian organizations in my community. The degree (or absence) of faith integration in therapy is entirely up to the client. I offer an understanding of the role that faith/religion may have in contributing to a client's world perspective and personal resources.
