I am dedicated and hard working with over 25 years of experience in the mental health field serving children, young adults, and families. I specialize in treating trauma, anxiety, ADHD, ODD, and depression and have an extensive background in helping children with behavioral issues and their families. By developing a strong therapeutic alliance, I am able to offer skill development and confidence building to support clients in processing events and decision making. Ideal clients will be open and honest in a supportive, non-judgmental setting to learn skills and increase happiness and hopefulness. I use a variety of treatment modalities that are client centered, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, motivational interviewing, solution-focused, and structural family therapy to treat multiple mental health and behavioral issues. I have been trained in Trauma Focused-CBT and Trauma Informed Care. I have worked in multiple settings to provide mental health and behavioral services to become uniquely skilled and perceptive in understanding clients' perspectives. I am flexible in my treatment approach based upon the individual client and am empathetic, caring, and understanding. My passion is helping people improve their lives.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

At the first session we will get to know each other and have the opportunity to ask each other questions related to our work together. I will be curious about current and past symptoms as well as previous treatment experiences. Other points of assessment and related to family dynamics and family history of mental health, physical diagnoses and medications, substance use or abuse, and school and work history. We will use our first meeting to develop goals for therapy as they are crucial in providing the roadmap of our work. Clients and the therapist must work together to define goals for treatment to ensure the time is used in a way clients feel good about .

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I am extremely client centered and compassionate. Clients are the experts of their own lives and I view therapy as a partnership working towards the client's goals.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive behavior therapy is used in treatment for anxiety and depression. By exploring the thoughts that are driving emotions, we can determine distorted thought patterns and use evidence to reframe these maladaptive thoughts.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

ACT is used to assist clients in recognizing patterns in their thinking and identify when thoughts are not inline with their values. By becoming psychologically flexible, we are able to observe thoughts and recognize problematic self-talk that reinforces symptoms. Practicing mindfulness and observation helps clients recognize and understand unhelpful patterns.

Couples Counseling

Using an integrative approach to couples work allows treatment to be individualized towards the couples unique needs. Interventions from Gottman theory and Imago therapy allow for relationship building and exploration of individual needs and contributions within the relationship.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

Skill-building is essential to working through difficult emotions and staying centered and grounded. DBT works with trauma and depression to tolerate the moment and improve relationships.

Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)

Exposure and response prevention is a highly effective treatment for OCD. With the support of the therapist, clients make a plan for tolerating distress to decrease responses to internal cues.
