Hi, I'm Erika! If you're reading this, congrats on taking your first step toward change by seeking a therapist. How exciting! And also maybe nerve-racking, as anything new can be. I can't promise to have all the answers, but I can serve as your guide as we tackle obstacles together and build upon your strengths. I look forward to meeting you! **Some additional time slots not listed on calendar may be available upon request** Experience: While working in both inpatient and outpatient settings, I have worked with very diverse populations of adults and adolescents, addressing a variety of concerns including anxiety, depression, OCD, self-esteem issues, relationship difficulties, terminal illness, disabilities, complex family dynamics, suicidal ideation, and more.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
You can expect our first session to be a laid-back conversation that allows me to get to know you and your goals, gives you an opportunity to ask questions, and allows you to see if we might be a good fit to work together.
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
As a Social Worker, in addition to having clinical skills and experience, I maintain an awareness of systemic/social issues that impact mental health and feel this is one of my unique strengths. I am also sex-positive, an LGBTQIA+ ally, and a fan of memes.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
My ideal clients are any age 16+, especially ages 18-30 and 55+. Any gender identity. Client concerns: anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), self-esteem, navigating life stage transitions (school/college, end of relationships, retirement, etc.)
Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)
CBT focuses on the connections between our thoughts, behaviors, and emotions, and identifying and modifying our thinking patterns.
Exposure Response Prevention (ERP)
ERP is the gold-standard treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder, and involves systematic exposure to feared situations and disrupting the reinforcement cycle of OCD.
Positive Psychology
This approach focuses on the positive emotions, character strengths, cultivating positive relationships, and building resilience.
Solution Focused Brief Treatment
This approach is goal-oriented, with a focus on the present and developing solutions rather than spending too much time analyzing the past or causes of issues. There are situations in which this approach is appropriate, depending on the client and presenting concerns.
Psychoeducation
Psychoeducation aims to provide education and further understanding of one’s mental health conditions.
