Over the last 20 years I have worked as a clinical social worker to help a variety of clients ranging from adolescence to adults dealing with a variety of both serious psychiatric symptoms as well as clients attempting to resolve what I consider life adjustment issues. I find using an eclectic approach enables me to utilize a variety of tools. My goal is to have a client/s return to their highest level of functioning through utilization of self-management skills and insight.

My goal in the first session is to put you at ease and help develop a safe therapeutic environment. This is an opportunity for me to gain an understanding of what issue/s have motivated you to get help. I will ask questions in an effort to better understand the most effective approach to help you gain insight into yourself and ultimately gain the tools and confidence to self-manage current and future life challenges.

The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions

A significant factor in benefiting from therapy is the development of a positive and trusting therapeutic relationship with a client. I have an eclectic approach to therapy, using different approaches/methods to maximize your therapy time and results. My goals help you meet your goals and to optimize your overall wellbeing by you adopting a holistic view of yourself. We are the sum of many parts.

The clients I'm best positioned to serve

I find clients who have the most success in therapy is motivated to make the necessary changes, take responsibility for coping strategies and skill implementation, and willing to be transparent about the problems that has brought them to therapy.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT)

I find the integration of DBT techniques can help clients with a variety of symptoms from many diagnosis, including personality disorder symptoms. Helping clients understand how to regulate their emotions when experiencing life challenges and unhealthy relationships. The goal of treatment is to help clients learn how to self-manage symptoms and challenges in their life.

Couples Counseling

I find an eclectic approach to working with couples allows us to understand how current challenges may be due to a combination of family of origin, communication, stress, parental roles and conflict management issues.
