• I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Georgia (LMFT) and I have been working in the counseling field since 2012. I have experience conducting individual and group therapy, in-office and online, with clients presenting with depression, anxiety, relationship and parenting issues, teen concerns, and a wide range of challenges including grief/loss, addiction, trauma, abuse, bipolar, as well as personal growth, adjustment issues, and crisis. For the past nine years I have worked within the Georgia prison system to provide counseling services to female offenders that have been placed in a treatment program to address mental illness and substance addiction. In my work with clients, I use some leading psychological modalities, such as Narrative Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Solution-Focused Therapy. I also utilize the Gottman Method, Motivational Interviewing, Strategic, and Trauma-Focused approaches. I am also a Certified Grief Specialist.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

The first session will very much so be a "get to each other session." I welcome clients to share about their day to day life and to openly ask questions.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

My counseling style is empathetic, integrative, and person-centered. I believe that the therapy process should be collaborative to allow myself and the client(s) to work together to re-author perspectives and to discover solutions and insights that will help the client find new ways to thrive. It's incredibly important to me that client's find a sense of empowerment to affect the things that they can change.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I help clients learn to change the way they think to gain control over feelings and behaviors.

Family Therapy

I help the client explore family dynamics that affect their systemic functioning. It's important to look at the person's family system to explore all avenues of risk/protective factors.

Gottman method

I have completed Level 1 of Gottman's training program. Gottman's approach helps couples increase communication and intimacy within the relationship.

Narrative

Exploring a person's narrative and reframing perspective is beneficial and empowering to clients as it separates them from "the problem." This externalization creates an open-minded environment for change.

Trauma Informed Care

Approaching clients from the perspective of being trauma informed care builds rapport while allowing sensitivity for experiences a client may not be ready to discuss in early states of therapy.
