Hello there! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Certified School Counselor. I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree from Boston University and completed my M.A. through Fairfield University’s counseling program. The vast majority of my counseling experience is working with teenagers and college-aged young adults, but prior to my career in counseling, I taught classes to older adults and worked in the corporate sector all over the country. I like to consider myself as having a diverse background of experience that lends itself to my work in counseling, and I am a compassionate person that would like to help people find balance and happiness in their lives. My philosophy begins with helping people understand their own behaviors and drives to help facilitate better communication skills, and in turn hopefully improve their self advocacy, sense of purpose, and their relationships.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I'll want to learn about what brought you to therapy, a bit about your background, and where you'd like to be. This will help us find a path to get there.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

What I've been told by others, and what I believe about myself is that I thrive at building relationships. I hope that the relationship we build together will help carry us wherever it is you'd like to go.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

CBT Can be an incredibly effective tool for some people struggling with anxiety, depression, or issues with self-esteem. It is something that can help remove obstacles in your path through our work together.

Person-centered (Rogerian)

Carl Rogers believed that relationships are healing. My goal is always to get to know my clients as authentically as possible, and hopefully through a genuine relationship, we can find growth together.

Psychoeducation

It is incredibly important to understand our behavior, and why we sometimes do and say the things we do. Therapy can work as a mirror to reflect your own actions. If you are working with a therapist who is asking you to try behaving or communicating in a different way, it's essential that you know why what you are doing is not working, what you are experiencing, and why it might be beneficial to make changes. This is the heart of Psychoeducation as I use it in therapy.

Solution Focused Brief Treatment

Unlike some traditional forms of therapy that go deep to analyze problems and behaviors, Solution Focused Brief Treatment will target an issue or goal and work toward resolution. This is the type of therapy that I use most based solely on client preference.

Psychoanalytic

Psychoanalytic Therapy is the grandfather of the therapeutic methods, and one that can be incredibly effective for those that are willing to dive deep into their past to examine the relationships, actions, circumstances, and events that have led them to where they are today.
