Hi there, I’m Monica! Thank you for taking the time to read about me and my practice. I commend you for your courage to seek counseling and investing time in yourself! Life can be challenging at times. Are you feeling stuck, like you're not living life to the fullest because of fear, worry, sadness, or insecurity? I empower clients to take control of their thoughts and learn healthy coping skills so that they may live peacefully and confidently. I provide an integrative approach focusing on physical, spiritual, and mental health so clients may become the best versions of themselves. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University. Over the years , I have worked with many people of all ages, faiths, and from all cultural backgrounds. Interestingly enough, what I have found is that many people often struggle with feelings of low self-worth, hurt, ongoing worry, poor sleep, racing thoughts, self-doubt, and difficulty with healthy boundary setting. I enjoy providing effective evidence-based treatment for clients and creating a culturally sensitive therapeutic relationship so they may achieve their treatment goals. My areas of special interest focus on women’s issues including life transitions, personal development, anxiety, low self-esteem, and decreased motivation. I believe in treating every individual with respect, sensitivity, and compassion while building a strong trustworthy connection. I look forward to meeting you and helping you be your best self!
At our first session, I'll be asking you many questions to get to know you and gather information so that I may better understand your needs and concerns. We will then set up a treatment goal and a tentative plan to address your needs. Throughout your sessions, you will be processing your feelings, gaining self- awareness, and learning effective coping skills for you to practice in between sessions for you to live a more fulfilling life.
Using a strengths-based perspective, I use a wide range of therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Humanistic, Person-Centered Therapy, & Positive Psychology to assist clients with making positive steps in improving their mental health and level of functioning. I work from a variety of approaches and match the style that will best fit your needs. However, I view YOU as being the expert in your own journey and experience.
I work primarily with adult clients on improving their emotional wellness. I feel that my biggest strength as a therapist is being genuinely interested, sensitive, and caring with my clients. The connection between a therapist and client is the most important component in making therapy effective. I provide a non-judgmental environment that will allow you to feel heard, understood, respected, and feel safe sharing your present life challenges as well as your successes. My therapeutic strengths are rooted in the 31 years of experience extensively working with people from all walks of life, in a variety of clinical settings, empowering them to prioritize their values and their happiness.
