Hello, I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and have been in practice for over 31 years. I completed my undergraduate and graduate work in San Diego, and during this time wrote my diseration on Stress and Burn out. This time in my career was instrumental in working with those who have stress, anxiety and depression and redirecting their focus onto healthy coping strategies.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, we will spend some time getting to know each other before we start discussing the issues that you would like to address in therapy. A treatment plan specific to your concerns will be implemented over the next few sessions and used to help guide and measure your progress.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

Having worked in the mental health field for over 31 years I have had the opportunity to work and hone my skills as a clinician. With strong clinical skills, compassion and curiosity, I find it fullfilling working with those who are motivated in addressing their mental health concerns.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I have implemented CBT throughtout my career. CBT is a form of psychotherapy that focuses on modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and thoughts. The objective is to identify negative or irrational beliefs by challenging them and focusing on practical strategies to address the distress. Conditions Treated with CBT include: Major Depressive Disorder Anxiety Disorders Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Eating Disorders Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders (OCD) as well as many others.

EMDR

I became certified to implement EMDR initially in my work with the native american population, addressing the intergenerational trauma that this population suffers from. I found this form of therapy to be so quick and effective that I have started implementing it into other presenting issues such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, abuse, neglect and early childhood trauma.

Compassion Focused

Compassion: CFT places compassion at its core. It emphasizes the importance of being kind and understanding toward oneself and others. Self-Compassion: Clients learn to cultivate self-compassion, treating themselves with the same kindness they would offer to a friend. Mindfulness: CFT incorporates mindfulness practices to increase awareness of thoughts, emotions, and bodily sensations. Conditions Treated with CFT: CFT can be effective for various emotional problems, including: - Anxiety disorders - Mood disorders - Personality disorders - Eating disorders - Hoarding disorder - Psychosis - Anger issues - Poor body image - Relationship challenges

Couples Counseling

Couples therapy, also known as relationship counseling, is a specialized form of therapy that focuses on improving the dynamics and communication within a romantic partnership. I have worked with couples throughout my career, helping them find insights into Reconnection: Partners learn to rekindle feelings that initially attracted them to each other. Compassion and Self-Management: to develop compassion for each other and themselves, as well as constructive ways to manage negative emotions. I have found over the years that there are various approaches to couples therapy, each with the goal of improving couple functioning and making relationships meaningful and satisfying. I have drawn techniques from multiple modalities based on the couple’s unique need. Couples therapy is a collaborative process, and both partners play a role in resolving dilemmas and creating a healthier relationship.

Eclectic

Eclectic therapy is a mode of psychotherapy that adapts to the unique needs of each patient. Customized Approach: Imagine eclectic therapy as a custom-made toolbox for your emotional well-being. Instead of using just one tool, we’ll draw from various approaches to create a personalized plan. 1. Multiple Techniques: o Like a skilled chef combining different ingredients, we’ll blend techniques from different therapeutic styles. o Each technique serves a specific purpose, addressing your unique challenges. 2. Flexible and Practical: o Eclectic therapy is flexible. If one approach isn’t effective, we’ll switch to another. o It’s like having a wardrobe with various outfits—you choose what fits the occasion. 3. Holistic Care: o I'll consider your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and life experiences. o Eclectic therapy aims to heal the whole person, not just isolated symptoms. 4. Collaboration: o You’re an active participant. We’ll explore what resonates with you. o Together, we’ll find the right combination to support your growth. Remember, eclectic therapy is about tailoring our work to your unique needs. It’s like creating a beautiful mosaic—one piece at a time.
