Hello! I am an LPC based out of Virginia Beach, VA, and I have overdo years of experience treating clients. I bring a compassionate and client-centered approach to my practice. Over the years, I have worked with individuals who have experienced various forms of trauma, including but not limited to physical or sexual abuse, accidents, natural disasters, and combat. I also have experience working in mental hospitals and behavioral units treating teens and adult for suicidal ideation, self-harm, depression, and anxiety.

In our first session together, we’ll start with brief introductions, then dive into the specific challenges you’re facing. This will help me create a tailored plan for us to work through in follow-up sessions.

My treatment methods

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

I’ve been using CBT in my practice for the past 10 years. It’s helped dozens of clients challenge reoccurring thoughts and manage their anxiety. We’ll use CBT to recognize how your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors influence each other. We’ll then use that knowledge to change your thinking patterns, which will help you lead a less anxious and stressed life.

Acceptance and commitment (ACT)

Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT therapy) is a type of mindful psychotherapy that helps you stay focused on the present moment and accept thoughts and feelings without judgment. It aims to help you move forward through difficult emotions so you can put your energy into healing instead of dwelling on the negative.

Trauma-Focused CBT

I use a variety of techniques to aid patients in reducing symptoms and improving functioning. Employing CBT may encourage you to re-evaluate their thinking patterns and assumptions in order to identify unhelpful patterns (often termed “distortions”) in thoughts, such as overgeneralizing bad outcomes, negative thinking that diminishes positive thinking, and always expecting catastrophic outcomes, to more balanced and effective thinking patterns. These are intended to help you reconceptualize your understanding of traumatic experiences, as well as your understanding of yourself and your ability to cope.
