Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in North Carolina. I received my master's degree from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and have been practicing in the field for over 12 years. I have experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings, serving in clinical leadership roles within mental health organizations, providing supervision to associate level clinicians, and providing ongoing consultation, training, and support to clinicians, social workers, foster parents, and more!
In our first session together, we'll start with getting to know each other, then we will dive into addressing what challenges you are facing. Together, we will identify a tailored plan to work through in follow-up sessions.
Over the years, I have developed a strong ability to truly connecting with each of my clients and provide them with what it takes to feel comfortable, valued, and heard.
I have a diverse background that includes working with various populations including children and adolescents who have experienced significant trauma, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, and more. When working with children, I work alongside their parents to educate, troubleshoot, and to offer additional support. I also work with adults who have experienced trauma and/or may be suffering from anxiety, depression, or struggling with life transitions. I have provided individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, and couples therapy.
I use a Strengths-Based Approach to focus on abilities, capacities, and knowledge rather than deficits or things we are lacking.
I use Attachment-Based Treatment in my work with children and adolescents who need help recovering from fractured relationships. Attachment-Based Treatment has been extremely helpful when working with children who have experienced abuse or trauma, have been involved in the foster care system, or who are adopted. Attachment-Based Treatment is helpful when working with adults who are aiming to overcome the effects of negative early attachment difficulties. No matter the age, the goal is for individuals to feel safe, secure, and supported which then leads them to developing healthy connections with others.
I am rostered with the NC Child Treatment Program to provide TF-CBT to individuals ages 3-18. TF-CBT is used to reduce PTSD symptoms in children and adolescents by helping them to approach rather than avoid negative thoughts and feelings associated with traumatic events. Individuals work through a 12-step component outline with the ultimate goal of learning how to progress through life in a safe and positive manner.
I work with couples to develop an understanding of their own needs as well as their partner's needs. Common goals with couples include rebuilding trust, restoring intimacy, managing conflict, overcoming trauma, and generally restoring relationship health.
CBT is a type of talk therapy that is helpful in reducing symptoms of various mental health disorders. With this method, I teach coping skills for dealing with different problems and we focus on how your thoughts, beliefs, and attitudes affect your feelings and actions.
