Welcome~ I'm Genevieve. First of all, I commend you for taking the first step in taking care of your mental health. Especially if this is your first time exploring therapy, it might feel confusing, overwhelming, or nerve-racking. However, once you find the right fit, I hope you feel empowered in the steps you've taken to better take care of yourself. My goal is to provide a safe, judgement-free space for you to feel heard and understood as you explore challenges related to racial identity, particularly if you identify as Asian, Asian-American, or as a Person/Woman of Color. Oftentimes, our lived experiences as POC (People of Color) can include stress, anxiety, depression, family conflict and trauma. I focus on helping you get in touch with what's no longer serving you or keeping you stuck, and collaborate in figuring out how to live a life that feels fulfilling, hopeful and aligns with your values. Culturally-sensitive therapy can be a wonderful way to help you feel seen, foster your personal growth & development, and gain helpful tools to improve your quality of life. If this sounds like what you're looking for, it would be an honor to journey alongside you. I welcome you to schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to assess for fit if you'd feel more comfortable doing so before an initial appointment.

What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session together, we’ll start with introductions, then I like to leave time for you to share more of what led you to reach out and explore therapy. From there, we can work together in creating a plan with goals for our work together. The first session is also a time for you, the client, to assess if I am the therapist for what you need right now. There is no pressure/expectation for you to book a future session if for any reason, it doesn't feel right. You can just let me know and don't worry - you won't hurt my feelings as my primary hope is that you find a therapist who can support you in the way that feels right for you.

What treatment methods and tools do you utilize?

Depending on my client's needs, I often integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Experiential Therapy, Family Systems, Attachment Theory and Mindfulness. I will always incorporate a Compassion-focused, Strengths-based, Culturally-Sensitive approach to our work.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

One of my strengths is providing Culturally-Sensitive Therapy and I believe this is especially important in providing support for the AAPI & BIPOC community. I have the most experience working with clients who struggle with depression, anxiety, family/relationship conflicts, life transitions, trauma, and racial identity. If you identify as a Christian and would like to incorporate faith/spirituality in our sessions, we can discuss how this may look during our 1st session.
