LCSW, 4 years of experience
Hi there. My name is Jacquelyn Najera and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in California. I obtained my Masters from Portland State University in Oregon and have been practicing in Los Angeles, CA for the past four years. I believe in the boundless potential of each and every human being and I feel truly honored to support folks on their journey to healing and fulfillment.
In our first session together, we will start with as much or as little mutual introductions and then I will give you the opportunity to share the specific reasons you are seeking treatment at this time. We will also begin collaboratively developing and identifying goals to work towards throughout your time in treatment.
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring a social justice practice and education background that informs all of my work. I practice trauma-informed care at all times. Operating from a relational and internal family systems approach, I am committed to fostering a compassionate environment to support you in finding the capacity for healing that is already inside of you. I believe that healing often happens in relationship and I would feel honored to guide you in building a loving relationship with yourself in order to foster that healing.
I love supporting teenagers and adults who are struggling with anxiety or depression. My clients often experience low self worth and are eager to feel like their best selves but don't yet know how to achieve this dream. Sometimes my clients experience suicidal ideation, hopelessness, and interpersonal difficulties.
I identify primarily as an IFS therapist. This is the model that guides most of my work. In IFS, we believe that we are all made up of multiple parts. I also firmly believe that we all have the capacity and pathway to healing already inside of us. When engaging in IFS, we would work towards getting to know all parts of you that make up your internal family system, building relationships with all parts, and eventually working to unburden any parts that are carrying burdens they are ready to release.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) is very useful for folks who struggle with emotion regulation. Utilizing DBT skills can be very helpful in regulating our emotions during a crisis, distressing event, or simply when emotions are high. DBT is a mindfulness based modality which is a foundation of my practice.
I consider myself a humanistic therapist in that I operate from a client centered approach and look at the whole person when providing therapy. I believe in the boundless potential of every human being and feel honored to support folks on their journey to feeling fulfilled and experiencing self-acceptance.
I utilize meditation, somatic awareness, and relaxation techniques to support folks in existing in the here and now, non-judgmentally. Mindfulness is a practice that can be very helpful in managing anxiety symptoms or other distressing emotions.
Motivational Interviewing is a tool to support folks in resolving their ambivalence. I utilize this modality with folks who are experiencing difficulty making important decisions or changes in their life.
