Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland. I received my masters from Johns Hopkins University and have been practicing for 5 years. I help you cope with and experience the range of human emotions without feeling swept up by them. We work together to determine your value systems to serve as a compass in making choices in your life that align with what matters to you.
In our first session together, here's what you can expect
In our first session we establish pro-nouns, accessibility needs and introductions. We will explore what brings you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. I usually end the first session by asking the “miracle question”- Suppose tonight, while you slept, a miracle occurred. When you awake tomorrow, what would be some of the things you would notice that would tell you life had suddenly gotten better?
The biggest strengths that I bring into our sessions
My greatest strengths are my abilities to see individual concerns in the context of systemic issues, relational experiences and internal thoughts, feelings and behaviors. I see my role as being collaborative rather than an expert. I do not force my own ways of seeing the world on my client, or tell them what they should/should not do or be, but accept them as they are with full autonomy and unique perspective.
The clients I'm best positioned to serve
I work with people at any stage of life who are feeling lost, like life is happening to them rather than them choosing their path. My clients tend to find themselves going through the motions leading to feelings of depression and anxiety. They tend to be doing everything “right” but are still feeling like something is missing.
Psychoeducation
Integrate education on mental health research and developments as well as how systemic issues impact ones mental health and life experience.
Acceptance and commitment (ACT)
Determining personal values and making decisions based on those values while accepting things outside of your control.
Feminist
Explore the interacting systems of power and oppression shaping your personal experience.
