LCSW, 8 years of experience
Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California. I received my Masters's of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California. Throughout my clinical career, I have had the privilege of working with multiple populations from children, adolescents, adults, couples, the Military and their families. I specialize in helping individuals living with anxiety, depression, adjustment changes, trauma, ADHD and behavioral changes. I firmly believe that everyone has the capacity for healing and personal transformation. My role is to guide and support you as you navigate life's challenges, helping you develop the tools and insights needed to lead a more fulfilling and meaningful life.
We will begin with introductions and answer any questions or concerns you may have about therapy or the process. Then I will inquire about your background, personal history, and the issues that led you to seek therapy. This may involve discussing current challenges, past experiences, and relevant aspects of the your life. I aim to create a safe and non-judgmental space where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts and feelings. Building rapport is foundational for effective therapy. You will be encouraged to share your primary concerns, emotions, and any specific issues you want to address in therapy. This exploration helps us to understand your unique perspective and tailor our approach accordingly. We will also begin to set initial goals for therapy. These goals provide a roadmap for the therapeutic process and help track progress over time. Overall, the first therapy session is a foundational step in building a therapeutic relationship, fostering open communication, and setting the stage for meaningful personal growth and exploration.
I believe that understanding and compassion are essential for healing and personal growth, especially when dealing with anxiety, depression, and trauma. While you already know my specialties, my strength lies in my extensive experience within these areas. I have worked with individuals facing anxiety and depression, navigated the unique challenges of military life, and helped clients heal from trauma and navigate complex relationship dynamics. I approach therapy holistically, recognizing that mental health is interconnected with various aspects of life. This means I not only address the symptoms but also explore the root causes and incorporate strategies for overall well-being. I've dedicated myself to these areas because I'm passionate about helping individuals overcome these challenges and lead more fulfilling lives.
I love working with all types of people and have experience working with all age ranges. I feel if you are here, then you are ready to see some change in your life and just need help with the tools to get where you want to be.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a foundational approach in my practice and is tailored to each client’s unique needs. I frequently integrate CBT techniques with DBT, especially in helping clients recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns while developing effective coping strategies. Mindfulness, a key component of both DBT and my overall therapeutic style, further supports this work by enhancing clients’ awareness and self-regulation.
I have received formal onboarding and certification training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and have worked in a full DBT practice. This experience has provided me with a strong foundation in the core principles and structure of DBT, which I integrate into my clinical work through individual therapy, skills training, and adherence to the DBT model.
I incorporate mindfulness-based therapy in all of my sessions, using mindfulness techniques to help clients build awareness, emotional regulation, and presence. Additionally, mindfulness is a core component of DBT, which I use extensively, further reinforcing its integration into my therapeutic approach.
I use Solution-Focused Brief Therapy with clients who are focused on addressing immediate concerns and managing their current circumstances. This approach helps clients identify strengths, build on past successes, and develop practical solutions in the here and now.

Lorien is incredibly warm and solution-focused. From the start, she made me feel safe and comfortable—like I could talk about anything without fear of being judged. She’s really open-minded and easy to trust, which makes it easier to be honest and vulnerable. I always feel like she’s genuinely listening and cares about what I’m going through. Her support feels steady, kind, and real—like she’s walking alongside me, not just guiding from a distance.
