What can clients expect to take away from sessions with you?

In our first session, I like to provide some time and space for the client and I to get to know each other. I use an initial assessment tool to provide us some structure and topics to discuss so I can assess how I can best support this client. It's also a good time to review protocols around my private practice like attendance and confidentiality. This is where I would like the client and I to start developing some treatment goals to guide therapy moving forward.

Explain to clients what areas you feel are your biggest strengths.

I like to lead my practice with the values of safety and transparency because I value trust. My interest and strengths are neurobiology, human development and trauma informed care. This means that I incorporate this knowledge in session for the client and I to explore deeply rooted patterns that might be impacting their quality of life. This allows us to create small obtainable goals in session.

My treatment methods

Child Parent Psychotherapy

The majority of my experience is working with children and families. I specialized in parenting, re-connecting and repairing relationships. I worked with children as young as 2 years old and their caregivers. I use this in my practice by providing child development education, exploring the parent's own history growing up, possible impact of intergenerational trauma and use creative ways to incorporate age appropriate play to encourage bonding and teach coping strategies.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

Cognitive Behavioral therapy is a core component of therapy that I use regularly. I use it in treatment to help develop insight into repeating patterns in life that are preventing progress.

Mindfulness-Based Therapy

I've practiced mindfulness for years, engaging in meditation and mindfulness-based stress reduction. In sessions, I integrate mindfulness through guided exercises tailored to each client. This fosters present-moment awareness and aids in managing issues like anxiety, depression and emotional resilience.

Parent-Child Interaction (PCIT)

I was trained in PCIT when working with young children and families. I use this in my practice to support the parent and child relationship. This is done by using play as it's a young child's way of communicating. I work with the parent as their teammate and coach to improve dynamics with their child.

Trauma-Focused CBT

Trauma Focused CBT is a great treatment modality providing structure and predictability. I use this interventions in hopes of helping clients feel safe to explore their trauma history at their own pace.
